Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz endorsed fellow Republican Rep. Bob Good in his reelection bid in Virginia late Tuesday night, putting him at odds with former President Donald Trump, over his endorsement of Good's challenger John McGuire.
Trump endorsed McGuire last week, after criticizing Good who Trump said had supported him "too late." Good originally backed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for the Republican nomination for president.
Gaetz told his followers on X to "vote for Bob Good," as part of a repost of another "MAGA Republican" who called for support of Good over McGuire.
"I speak for all of MAGA when I say, we don't want another McCarthy plant in Congress," the other user posted last week. "We want Bob Good, one of the best legislators doing the people's work in that disgusting swamp."

Gatz who? What an ungrateful loser.
I hope Bob Good wins.
Why did Trump endorse McGuire over Good?
Good turned on Trump
Matt Gaetz for President in 2036!
Gaetz has a very strong, constitutional, conservative backbone.
If he’s backing Good, so am I.
You’re not supporting Trump? Asking for a friend.
Where’s the serious movement to, actually, convert those practicing RINO Republicanism to practicing Conservative Republicanism, instead?
So did DeSantis, but he turned back. So has Good.
According to the article, he did it because Good endorsed Ron DeSantis over him, or as Trump put it, “He came to me too late”.
No.
Matt Gaetz supports Trump and Good.
So do I.
What a stupid question.
“Is this just Trump doing butt hurt meddling or is McGuire a truly viable candidate and solid conservative?”
Donald J(esus Christ) Trump is simply being petty and vindictive here. Bob Good doesn’t get into Heaven now, because he “came to (Jesus) too late”.
Good has a lifetime conservative rating of a perfect 100%. His Virginia district is rated as R+7 which means it leans to the right but is not perfectly safe. The one thing which could help make it much less than “perfectly safe” is a divisive primary.
By way of contrast, the GOPe pleaded with Trump not to “interfere” in the recent Texas runoff election in House district 23, where liberal Trump-hating Republican was in a tough primary fight that he won by only a handful of votes. Lord Trump’s endorsement of Gonzales’ challenger — which never happened because Trump caved to the GOPe — would easily have made the difference in the outcome.
That district is rated about the same as Good’s, but notice how the GOPe (and Trump) suddenly don’t care about the possible loss of the Virginia district in November though they cared greatly about the one in Texas. Gotta keep a liberal around no matter what; but to hell with a conservative.
Trump also never endorsed Gonzales’ opponent in 2022 even after Gonzales voted to create the lynch mob known as the “J6 Committee”. Same thing applies to liberal Rep. Carlos Gimenez in Florida — Trump not only didn’t endorse his challenger either, he actually endorsed *Gimenez* for re-election in 2022.
So liberals get a free pass but Trump spitefully opposes a 100% conservative. Another brilliant personnel decision from the master of 400-D chess. Hopefully Good prevails anyway.
Bob Good is a Carpetbagger from Wilkes-Barre.
Well DJT, as much as I like him and back him, does not have a stellar record for picking candidates, appointees and allies. Gaetz demonstrates good judgement to scrutinize and make his own decision on endorsements. DJT takes things personally and reacts to them far too often. And half the knives in his back are people that he chose to watch it.
So while he’s still the best man for the job, he needs to watch who he chooses for friends, and keep his thoughts private.

Gaetz/Taylor Green would make an interesting ticket and wokester heads would explode.
JK, there’s no chance that two house members would ever get the nod, it just doesn’t work that way.

Mr. McGuire just became a state senator as of Jan. 2024. He’s already trying to climb from state to federal, based on Mr. Good’s “disloyalty” to Trump for supporting DeSantis. McGuire supported keeping McCarthy, whereas Good supported getting rid of him.
