Dennis Quaid argued during a recent television interview that, rather than politics, it was the "weaponization of the justice system" and his policy record that ultimately convinced him to vote for former president Trump.
"People might call him an a--hole, but he’s my a--hole," the Hollywood actor declared.
Quaid has been in Hollywood hits like "Traffic" (2000), "Dragonheart" (1996), and portrays President Ronald Reagan in the 2024 biopic, "Reagan," which will premiere in August.
"I think I’m gonna vote for him in the next election," the actor told host Piers Morgan of "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Tuesday. "It just makes sense. I was ready not to vote for Trump, until what I saw is, more than politics, I see a weaponization of our justice system and a challenge to our Constitution."
Trump is the most investigated person, probably in the history of the world, and they haven’t been able to really get him on anything," he added.
When asked by Morgan whether one has to like Trump to vote for him, Quaid replied that he cringed at some of Trump’s past rhetoric, "But as president… the only thing I liked about Trump was everything he did."
"What he did with Korea, with Rocket Baby, the way he defeated ISIS in three weeks. You know, people don't even remember it happened so fast. How he stood up for us overseas. The way he responded to China. He stands up to people and that's what makes him a leader. Rather than, what I kind of compare it to, what was going on in Jimmy Carter's administration, where we're trying to be everybody's friend and pal," he said.
"And there's some evil people and bad actors in this world and so, you know, people might call [Trump] an a--hole but he's my a--hole,"

As I wrote elsewhere, The Presidency went from a job where the nation wanted a guy who had ideas and leadership qualities, to sort of like the slot for lead singer in Van Halen.
You can have a killer frontman like David Lee Roth, who excites and tears it up live and propels the band creatively, but who is a trainwreck in terms of everything else in general.
You can get Sammy Hagar, who is ultra competent but not terribly motivating or exciting.
Then there is Gary Cherone, who is great in Extreme but lost in VH.
Trump is Diamond Dave. Bidet is Cherone. DeSantis is Sammy.
Parenthetically, the American People are Eddie, Michael, and Alex-a monster band that is invariant to the guy in the singer slot.
America isn’t voting for competency anymore. We are voting for the Lead Singer of our nation - The Frontman of the United States of America, if you will.
And Trump will win the Diamond Dave vote, which will be drawn to a guy who just lost a case. We hope he learned from his bad personnel etc decisions last time, and this album and tour are better.
Bidet will get the Gary Cherone vote.
…Assuming no fraud.
Dennis Quaid did not call Trump that. He said some may call him that, but he said he’s now my that. With “that” being replaced with what the word that he mentioned.
I’ll happily take his vote, along with sperg lord Michael Rappaport, I know they will both go back to their TDS ways not to long after the election. A vote is a vote, I can continue to ignore these people like any other day.
I retract my TDS comment about Dennis Quaid.
Randy’s been onboard with Trump since the beginning.
I don’t know much about Dennis, I do know that Randy has been... outspoken...on a few issues over the past couple of years. Odd duck, but I would like to hear his story.
That is some magnificent self-censoring.
A great movie, too.
How does that song go? “... it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for!”
Sure allies in the asylum we’re living in!
I’ve already started wearing my “Let’s Go Brandon” FJB hat. Trump 2024 will be coming out next. The far left, demented pedophile, student loan deadbeats and Fuzzy Muzzie Lovers can kiss my keister.
So Dennis should have used d___ instead of a—h-—.
Basically, I have come to the same conclusion.
The American people have a right to vote for a jack@$$. As simple as that. The Deep State is trying to take away that freedom from us.
Similar I guess. Been a long time since I saw that movie, so I assume I am filling in the blanks correctly. Especially since that last blank was the same word used, but was not pluralized. 🤣👍
Here’s the scene in its full uncensored glory

He’s having it both ways. Good.
I’m on the same page as Mr. Quaid. Mr. Trump is an oaf. But he kept his promises! Conservative Supreme Court. Border security. And as far as we know, he kept his trousers zipped since attaining the presidency. The latter, I believe, is astounding and is a result of prayer coverage.
I’m praying for, and voting for the Bad Orange Man.
Didn’t he vote for Trump in 2020.
Yep , my filling in the blanks were correct. 🤣
I think Trump, no matter what anybody thinks of him, is doing a good job at trying to get these states — and all of the American people — what they need," the actor said in April 2020, "and also trying to hold our economy together and be prepared for when this is all over. Quaid's brother, Randy, also has voiced approval of Trump.
