Cat moms

Luvie is out on deck with me. She periodically goes down into adjacent woods

She’s so thin .. I brought some food out on deck for her. She nibbles a little niw and then

Interesting that last time she went into woods some birds landed on deck and were eating her food!

We have two seed feeders and two hummingbird feeders on deck so there is a lot of bird activity

I’m sure it was good but I slept through my alarm clock!! The click
Was advertised on Amazon as being so loud it will wake up your neighbors

I had it set for 7:30 and at 8:30 my son got me up and asked me to turn off the alarm

It was catered by Stratford BBQ In our region BBQ is the most popular food n this restaurant is known to be among best

I’ll bet it’s maybe available on DVD? Amazon

I tried checking but couldn’t connect

Is that a better program series than Downtown Abbey in your opinion

Fascinating how much history was recorded on an Indian woman who died in 1816.

Thanks for the great read.

Were you the one, in your post, who finally found her grave?

Oh no! You missed that nice breakfast! That’s so disappointing, Dolly.

OTOH, you must have needed the sleep. I guess all of that mulching and yard work zonked you out real good!

I,too, got tired of the Bates story line. How many seasons did the writers draw it out? And they had that stupid police sergeant coming around and giving absolutely unnecessary details. But, I loved the scenery, the costuming, and the overall story line. I’m up for watching the 3rd movie.

Thanks MsB But I just read everything on thread. I know some people just go to their pings/my comments . I feel I’d miss a whole lot

Your story of finding the grave gave me goose bumps

Sweet grass and sage! I’m growing sage for first time ever. Have it in larger pot with thyme

No, hubby took off in the Viper to the car show. Apparently the glue takes a couple hours to dry.

A good development was that Sable was outside when he drove the Viper down the driveway, she got scared and learned how to let herself in the doggie door. Now I just need Cadbury to learn. Maybe he’ll watch her one of these days

Yes, I am the one who finally found her grave.
Molly Ockett is credited with saving the life
on Hannibal Hamlin, when he was a child..

From our Friends ! Wikipedia:
Hannibal Hamlin:

“ccording to folklore, Hamlin’s life was saved when he was an infant by a Native American medicine woman named Molly Ockett.[3] Hamlin was gravely ill and Ockett prescribed that he be given warm cow’s milk, after which he recovered.[3]”

(I think that the milk from Hannibal’s mother was not enough to sustain him,I suspect Molly Ockett was pretty blunt in telling her that he would die without the cows milk!)

Read more here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannibal_Hamlin

The Old Tales said that Molly Ockett fell in love with a white soldier, which was forbidden back then.
They were not allowed to marry.

The old tales tell that her lover was so berift, that he took his own life, and left Molly alone, pregnant with is child, She went to a home that refused her help, even though it was winter- and she cursed the place. She lost her baby.

So many tales abound, it’s hard to know what id the truth.
The part about Hannibal IS the truth!

The locals told me about these old stories, and one old guy said “I’ll tell you THIS much, ain’t nuthin’ ever growed there, and every business that has tried to make a go of it in that spot, never had any luck’

Yes, I have been to the falls and to the very spot where she supposedly cursed.
Ain’t nuthin there!
NOTE I have not returned there in quite some time, maybe it has changed now, I don’t know.

I am hoping next year, to go back again. maybe with a few close friends.
This location in the Fall is nothing short of spectacular in it’s beauty!

How is the grain bed raised garden doing. You said you’ve had a lot of rain

Does Natalie do a lot of gardening close to her home? Or is yours the only one?

Birds...what do you see today?

Thread Posted on 6/15/2024, by FReeper rlmorel

Just finished grilling some ribs, sun went down behind the trees, and I am sitting in my backyard hammock looking across my yard up here in New England.

Got my pipe, having a smoke...just perfect.

The birds are having a ball!

There are a lot of adolescent fledges, I count four downy woodpeckers, one who has the beginnings of little strings of red, but they stick out in amusing way, giving it the appearance of a kid with a bad haircut whose cowlick protrudes off the back of his head.

Friend of mine maintains that anyone calls 'em "dumb animals" never had any around the place.

My old Boss Husky at The Homestead can unlock/open/close/relock doors behind him (faster than some people) and has better verbal comprehension skills than lots of people I know. (He's never broke into speech with me but I suspect he and the twin g-grands have long discussions behind adult backs.)

I'm certain Cadbury will use that door, but equally certain it will be only.when.he's.ready.to.do.so.
