Am I The Only One – Aaron Lewis
Hello Lysie and all fellow Trump Train passengers! I wanted a good breakfast so what better place to go than here to Lysie’s kitchen!
I’m hanging in there. I hope everyone here is doing well and want to catch up on everyone and everything.
Thanks cottonball for being my liason all this time. You’re the best!
That’s a good one, Judy!
We missed you, Rusty!
Glad to see you back!
Happy Birthday President Trump!
Looks like the meetings Trump had with House, Senate and business leaders were very successful and unifying. All policy and action topics. 👍
Rusty! Good to see you. I’m glad you’re “hanging in there.” I can’t wait for your “return to posting.”
Good to see you Jemian! How have you been doing? Prayers your health and everything is good.
Hey Judy! I’ve missed you and your humor.
I’m doing well. I’ll find out Monday how I’m doing when the doc sees the results of the blood work. The return here has begun with a few bumps ~~ my car stopped working on me yesterday, but it was easily remedied by a friend ~~ but these are things which must be addressed.
Praying all turns out well with your health.
Hope you haven’t been bothered by that crazy guy!
I’ve had to cancel appointments with my various doctors. Since I want to move as soon as I can, I’ll just have to find doctors in Wisconsin. Not sure how it all works, guess I’ll have to get new insurance there and go from there.
Like I told my friend, when I was younger the last thing on my mind when I was moving was having a doctor; priorities sure do change when one gets older!
Good Morning! How’s everyone today?
You’re from Alabama aren’t you?
Yesterday I watched a crime documentary and the victim name was “Clemens”, in Athens. My grandma was married to a Bob Clements with a “t”. I have some lost cousins that may still live there.
Anyway I looked and found a high school, a Baptist Church and fire department in Athens all named “Clements”. I couldn’t find who the Clements was that it was named after. I wouldn’t think it was my step-grandpa, as he was a racist KKK (although that wasn’t always considered a bad thing in Alabama lol), but as far as I know he wasn’t wealthy or big shot. But I thought it could be family. My cousins are Clements family but their last name would be their dad’s name.
Are you from that area or have any hints for me to research?
Rusty! So good to “hear” from you! I hope your recovery is going along smoothly, and you can see a light at the end of the tunnel (but not THAT light lol).
Please join us on the thread as often as you can, as long as it doesn’t set you back at all. So nice that you’re back! And yes, CottonBall has been a good liason - she IS the best!
I live in Alabama and grew up here. But, my parents are from New England and Southern Illinois. So, there are many things I miss.
Athens is in the northern part of the state, near Huntsville, near Tennessee. That is interesting about the Clements name. It is very common for one family to have been in a place a long time and then it seems now everyone is related or there are things named after that family. Doesn’t surprise me a bit.
Auburn, where I live, is named after a line in “The Deserted Village”, a poem by Oliver Goldsmith. It reads, “Auburn, Sweet Auburn, the loveliest village on the plain .... “ That is why we often refer to the town as “The Loveliest Village” and hear people from here being called “Plainsmen.”
It is nice to hear that some of us seniors are get’n better, that is a blessing. My body has been pretty good at reminding me I ain’t 20 anymore.
Actually, being part of the KKK was almost mandantory, as I understand it, for city leaders in the early 1900s. Often family members wouldn’t know for sure, but it was sort of tacitly understood. Robes and paraphenalia frequently were discovered after a person had died.
My husband was looking for a band directing job in 1982. One of the places was in Franklin County, which is northeast of Birmingham and a rather rural, mountainous area (for us mountainous - Appalachia types). He was offered the job. But, as we were leaving the area, we saw makeshift signs all over the place inviting people to attend a KKK meeting. That immediately changed our minds and we went elsewhere.
FWIW, I am present washing three pieces of clothing so I can put them back on and get about my day. I want my luggage!
