We are almost halfway through 2024 and some new laws and restrictions may soon be on the horizon here in New York State.
Need a new freezer for those freezie pops this summer? How about a new fridge for that cold beer? There may soon be a limit on which models of freezers and refrigerators you can buy.
New York is quickly becoming one of the most aggressive states when it comes to going green or being more environmentally protective. There are constant rumors and worries about whether or not gas appliances will be taken away and a fear about bans on grills. However, the latest "go green" stance is coming from the Federal level and it is in line with New York State's vision.
Within the next five years, the cheaper models of various appliances will be off the market. Fox News Reports:
...the updated standards, which will take less efficient but cheaper models off the market, will in 30 years remove the amount of emissions generated by the combined annual emissions of 12.7 million homes.

“Our fridge is from 1999, had to replace the thermostat last year, with regular care and cleaning, will run forever. Not getting new ones with smaller compressors and more sensors and electronics that fail faster. Also, keep your fridge on a surge protector. And any other electronic devices/appliances that are very important to you.”
Good advice: We know a younger guy, who calls us Mom and Dad and isn’t a relative. He and his peer group have spent a fortune on appliances bought from a former big mall store, and their appliances lasted barely 3 years.
With the power failures in N. Cali land, we have circuit breaker extension plug ins connected to every electric using unit/appliance in our home.
Can see hot new businesses popping up on NY’s borders selling black market refrigerators and freezers.
With all the global warming cutting ice from rivers and lakes during the winter for refrigeration won’t be happening either. (Sarcasm)
NYS GOP is an acronymic oxymoron.
NYS is controlled by Albany.
And Albany is controlled by Deep State.
Why would anyone want to stay in NY or move there?
Sad but true. The NY GOP make the Washington Generals look like winners.
I hate to hear only 9 years or so service.
I bought a WESTINGHOUSE ref/freezer in NOV 1965 when I moved into unfurnished apartment on 2nd floor. Over/under—2 doors.
Moved into house in 1966—moved again in 1993-—Moved again in 2004 (couldn’t find new property) so Found new property in Jan 2005. Appliance has been moved 5 times, counting original trip into apartment.
59 years. STILL RUNS JUST FINE.
1972 G E upright freezer in kitchen has been moved more times, as I bought it used.
52 years. RUNS JUST FINE.
IF I MOVE AGAIN-—ALL MY APPLIANCES ARE GOING WITH ME-—including the Western Holley gas stove I bought used in 1965 for about $250. GREAT stove-—but this house came with one.
IMO-—IT IS DOWNRIGHT PITIFUL to only get 9 years out of a major appliance.
this is also a big gift to the large stores...all these people rushing to buy the old kind of freezer/refrigerator before the nazi’s come down on them...
YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUY A WHOLE HOUSE SURGE PROTECTOR.
NOT THAT EXPENSIVE. TALK TO GOOD ELECTRICIAN
ESPECIALLY since new washers/dryers cannot just replace parts. The WHOLE Panel needs changing-—IF you find THAT.
SURGE PROTECTOR HELPS THAT

MY MAYTAG DEALER TOLD ME THIS
Dems are running NY State into the ground.
Maybe the drug cartels can expand their business to include refrigerator smuggling.
I be using my oldie.
