Goodbye To These Freezers, Refrigerators In New York State

We are almost halfway through 2024 and some new laws and restrictions may soon be on the horizon here in New York State.

Need a new freezer for those freezie pops this summer? How about a new fridge for that cold beer? There may soon be a limit on which models of freezers and refrigerators you can buy.

New York is quickly becoming one of the most aggressive states when it comes to going green or being more environmentally protective. There are constant rumors and worries about whether or not gas appliances will be taken away and a fear about bans on grills. However, the latest "go green" stance is coming from the Federal level and it is in line with New York State's vision.

Within the next five years, the cheaper models of various appliances will be off the market. Fox News Reports:

...the updated standards, which will take less efficient but cheaper models off the market, will in 30 years remove the amount of emissions generated by the combined annual emissions of 12.7 million homes.

The freezers will not freeze and the refrigerators will run hot, while burning more electricity to do a poorer job.

“The freezers will not freeze and the refrigerators will run hot, while burning more electricity to do a poorer job.”

and the compressors will be even smaller, run ALL the time and burn out even sooner, thus requiring the entire unit to be thrown out and a newly manufactured one purchased every five years or so, AND none of that will be included in the TOTAL lifetime energy cost of the unit ...

Appliance dealers in the neighboring states will welcome this new regulation, and in state dealers will lose business.

A law will be passed prohibiting the importation of freezers/refrigerators that violate the rule. State police will monitor parking lots of appliance dealers in surrounding states recording NY license plates.

NY’s next GOP candidate needs to run on returning freedom. They need to ruthlessly go after the tyrannical democrat government and in particular, Hochul.

If your AC is out, you can leave the frig door open to cool the house, right?

I do that with the stove in the winter, to heat things.

= = =

So if I am already a felon for ‘importing’ ammo, why would this bother me.

Hey you, pull over. Got any dead bodies in the back of your truck?

Cod Red - Call for reinforcements, this guy has a refrigerator hidden under all those boxes of ammo.

Lotsa luck with that, New York. Looking forward to the genesis of the Refrigerator Railroad. . . ;)

I know why the Amish have not gone with electricity. They don’t trust Government! They know the Government can shut them off at will. We will all need to learn to mitigate this potential

Our old refrig/freezer was dying, and we replaced it after 9+ years of service.

A fellow retiree friend helped us to install our new fridge.

He is about our age, and he will probably buy a replacement unit this week with the sale prices. Like us, if he gets 9-10 years of use, he will be happy.

“… remove the amount of emissions generated by the combined annual emissions of 12.7 million homes.”

That is a totally meaningless metric that only a government weenie could gin up.

Prediction: new mandate to require “home” freezers to stay above 10 degrees F.
