I haven’t been a sports fan for many years, partly because I don’t have time to keep up with the world of sports and partly because I have zero tolerance for the unsportsmanlike conduct that has come to characterize, if not dominate, it. And yet I am fast becoming FrontPageMag’s resident sports reporter: fresh off my defense of NFL kicker Harrison Butker for giving a commencement speech that championed traditional values and sent the media into an apoplectic fit, here I am about to leap to the defense of another athlete who is drawing petty media fire for nothing more than the contemporary sin of being white.
Even I know that 22-year-old Iowan college phenom and now WNBA star Caitlin Clark is an outstanding talent who is helping to draw a whole new generation of fans to women’s basketball. The left-leaning media pay lip service to gratitude about this, but can’t help carping about the fact that Clark belongs to a demographic they openly despise: straight, white Midwesterners.
An editorial in the reliably far-left Los Angeles Times, for example, frets that Clark’s popularity “draws questions of race and equity” – because the L.A. Times puts a race-and-equity spin on every editorial. The piece notes that “approximately 70% of [WNBA] players are Black [sic], nearly a third identify as LGBTQ and most come from urban environments,” but “Clark is white, straight and from Iowa.” The Times doesn’t explicitly state what’s wrong with being a straight white Iowan, but we all know what the problem is: the Left literally worships diversity unless straight white people get in the mix. Then it’s, “There goes the neighborhood.”
The article goes on to cite female critics complaining that Straight White Clark is getting attention, accolades, and endorsements that lesbian black players...

“L.A. Times puts a race-and-equity spin on every editorial.” I watched some of the game when Indiana played LA. I noticed the court had a big sign painted on the floor in front of the scorer’s bench which read “Black Lives Matter”, pretty much told me everything I need to know.

It will be much clearer if she’s not chosen for the Olympic team.
“She’s getting endorsements that they’re not”. Maybe the folks she’s endorsing sell products to (to use a term the left likes) “look like she does”, and those customers wouldn’t RESPOND to ghetto black lesbians.
I do too. She is a remarkable human being.
I wouldn't play in the WNBA if I'm her. I'll play in the Olympics. Then get endorsement money. Maybe after that, "retire" and then coach college basketball or something like that.
I think women can make more playing in Europe, but just stay away from Russia.
No idea if that’s true. I know that the oligarchs were paying female basketball players good money in Russia.
I understand it's acceptable to discriminate against white people, but what law says it's legal and required?
The affirmative action laws were overturned, but DEI is the same thing on steroids.
WNBA Womens National Black Activist league. They hate her because she refuses to dim her own light and bow down to the woke culture. While she acknowledges the players who played before her and recognizes their talent, she won’t apologize for her whiteness, heterosexuality and her abilities. They want her to say “ I’m sorry, I’m white and black players should really be getting all the money and recognition. “. She won’t do it. And that’s why she’s popular with majority America. Jordan, Tiger Woods, etc never played the victim card either. They were 2 of the most highly marketed athletes in history. They are seriously trying to destroy her. They guard her like someone has a gun to their head. It’s insane. The so called GOATS don’t get the defensive pressure she gets. And she has struggled...and they love it. They sense blood in the water and it’s an all out assault to destroy her and her fans. Her fans are now labeled cultist in the media. One of the black players mothers tweeted that Clark’s fans are just “ children of the corn”. She should tell the WNBA to go F themselves and play in the EuroLeague. She’d still be a huge star and not have to deal with this crap. Let the WNBA go belly up...like it should have decades ago.
Ms. Clark is in my prayers.
She has literally the entire sports world against her, and they are demonically controlled.
She needs to play her game, tune out the noise, and stay out of trouble (on and off the court).
I pray she succeeds massively and makes these haters grind their teeth into dust.
