Might the former President pick the wrong Florida man for his ticket?
Florida’s senior Senator may not offer former President Donald Trump as big a boost as some other potential running mates might … including the current Governor of Florida.
That’s the takeaway from the new Harvard-Harris Poll, which finds voters want Gov. Ron DeSantis and not Marco Rubio on the ticket.
DeSantis leads a host of potential picks with 12% top-choice support among the electorate, including 23% of Republicans, 7% of no-party voters, and 4% of Democrats.
Rubio has 4% support but just 3% among Republicans, 4% among no-party voters, and 5% among Democrats. He trails U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
Rubio would offer a net boost for the ticket, with 27% of respondents saying they’d be more likely to vote for him and 17% saying they’d be less likely. However, the pollster didn’t test the same question with DeSantis for unknown reasons.
With the electorate at large, Rubio is above water in favorability, with 36% saying they approve of him and 33% disapproving. But that doesn’t even make him the most popular Florida Republican nationally.
That honor goes to DeSantis, at +6 with 43% approval against 37% disapproval.
DeSantis has ruled out being Trump’s running mate at various points for over a year, making the question moot unless the Governor is reconsidering his position amid a thaw with the Trump operation.

Take a look at his record. Oh by the way, he gets things accomplished and governs well, can articulate a conservative message and earned a Bronze star. He is a patriot.
I doubt he would entertain the VP spot but anything is possible.
Napsalot....you’ve been told, repeatedly, not to post your sick posts - or, ANY posts - to me....yet, here you are, once again, like a moth to a flame. You just cannot resist. You even have had a previous time out, for your sick posts to me, IIRC.
I get it, it’s the long weekend and you are most likely alone, and, probably getting an early start. Still, no excuse.
I would pay thousands to see Tucker Carlson get the nod just to see the libs heads explode.
"And she might help with the womens’ vote."
This is all that really matters right now. Everything else is icing.
Great points, all.
Not after his inept and disloyal presidential campaign..
Nope
I'm with you on that.
Yes, I like Sanders as well. Rubio, please noooooo! Somebody must be nostalgic for the Jeb Bush vote.
SIGH! I guess it is time to post the stock reply to all these Florida VP threads with the inconvenient info that a Florida-Florida ticket means you lose ALL of Florida’s electoral votes.
Let’s just hope she hasn’t shot a dog, or if she has that she has the good sense to not brag about it.
I hadn’t really settled on someone I hope Trump will pick, but as of today I think I’m on the Sarah Sanders bandwagon.
I thought Sarah said she wasn’t interested in the job. I suppose she could change her mind. A woman’s prerogative!
I’m amazed how illiterate people are with the Constitution. If he picks Ron, the state of Florida can only choose one. Not both.
It gets tiring. They don’t seem to get it.

Indeed, they would explode...for about 30 seconds.
Then, they would dance with joy because TC would be an utterly disastrous pick as he would add zilch to the ticket for the election. Plus, with all the controversial things he has said, there would be an overflow of quotes they could take out of context to use against him. Many quotes would not even need to be taken out of context.
How about Mike Pence.
Ooops! /sarc
DeSantis is my 2nd favorite politician after Trump, but I just don’t want to lose him as governor. Many times the VP slot is a dead in to no where
Are you really FkoridaFreeper2024?
Neither one can be a candidate. VP cannot be from the same state as POTUS.
