The massive "doomsday glacier" known for its rapid destabilization is undergoing a "vigorous ice melt" that scientists say could reshape sea level rise projections.
In a new study, glaciologists from the University of California, Irvine, found that warm, high-pressure ocean water is seeping beneath West Antarctica's Thwaites Glacier, making it more vulnerable to melting than previously thought. The glacier is roughly 80 miles across, the widest on Earth. It packs so much ice that if it were to completely collapse, it could singlehandedly cause global sea levels to rise by more than two feet, according to the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration, prompting its moniker as the "Doomsday Glacier."

Someone help me out here. Ice has a greater density than water. So if the ice melts, and the water takes up less space, won’t that lower sea levels?
No mention of the active undersea volcanos providing the heated water?
I wonder how we can use green dollars to turn off the heat from the many volcanos that are located under this glacier. These people are morons.

I’m old enough to remember 35 years ago when there was still a tropical rain forest forest in the Amazon region. And here we are, starved for oxygen, just as predicted by the finest climatologists in the world.
Wikipedia tries hard to be alarmist, but admits it poses no threat this century. The two feet number is worst case at the end of the 23rd Century. As remote from us as we are from 1775.

For the purposes of THIS thread, the “money quote” is this:

So... there ya go: “within centuries”; exact number unknown. Might be three. Might be 30.

Once again, “science” invokes a vague, and stupidly long timespan to sustain panic. Because being honest that the impact is on the order of an inch, or maybe half of one, every hundred years kinda doesn’t stir up the rabble enough to swarm the National Mall, scream, rail, agonize, and fornicate, and leave behind their customary 13 tons of garbage.
I might be pardoned for feeling uniquely uncompelled to take the least action whatsoever.
