California hemorrhages its law enforcement officers to a red state: Men and women in uniform flock to communities that respect their work

Here’s the report, from Fox News today:

Blue line getting thinner in West Coast states as police take refuge in Idaho

High concentration of retired and active first responders in Idaho not a coincidence, says former California High Patrol officer[.]

California is losing its law enforcement officers to a red state—imagine that! Men and women whose job may require them to lay their lives on the line, who handle some of the scummiest and darkest realities in the history of humanity, want to be respected and supported by their employers and community? No kidding.

And it’s not just a few cops here and there—deep blue pro-crime cities are hemorrhaging law enforcement officers:

Cities large and small across the country suffered severe staffing shortages on the heels of anti-police protests in 2020. Four years later, some departments still can’t stop the bleeding.

Seattle’s police staffing is at its lowest level since the 1990s, according to a March KING 5 report. Earlier this year in California, the Alameda Police Department offered a $75,000 signing bonus — the highest in the nation — on top of a six-figure starting salary to try to entice new officers.

Of course the lawlessness of the “defund the police” agenda, which isn’t really an accountability movement in bureaucratic policing (like I’d like to see) but a pro-crime and anti-law enforcement agenda, is obnoxious (and unacceptable) enough, because the citizens and the people suffer tremendously, especially the most vulnerable people us: minority communities which are pervaded by violent crime that’s already high enough, and the children in such communities who are subjected to terrible abuses.

The late Colin Flaherty reported on this - police from “big” cities such as New York and Chicago, fleeing to small towns in Oregon and Washington.

They want to protect their jobs and pensions and keep their families safe - and who can blame them?

The small towns want them b/c they are well trained.

Why the heck would a decent cop want to work in a liberal hell-hole? A while back I watched a YouTube video where some guy was talking to two young NYC police officers. Both officers talked like they were mentally challenged.

I suppose that’s a consequence of NYC lowering standards to fill the ranks. Can other cities be far behind?

I, for one, welcome red state cops (only the good ones) to sunny beautiful Florida where we respect our law enforcement personnel (only the good ones) and where I am there are ZERO tents, vagrants, bums, derelicts, or meth heads clogging up city areas. NONE. During the multi week power outages during Hurricane Ian cops were stationed in mall parking lots and commerce parts of town to prevent mostly peaceful looting.

Of course, if you're in a liberal hellhole like Jacksonville your mileage my vary.

This is a double edged sword. The respect for citizens from Ca cops compared to cops in other states is non existent, they have to be forced to do it. The superiority authoritarian complex is off the charts and insane. So they come taint the pool in other states who actually do respect their citizens. Might be good for them, but it is not always good for us.

I finally pulled the plug last month and bought a home in Idaho.

Amazingly I sold my California home in one day for $25000 over my listing price. Who would want to live here? Maybe it’s the weather.

Lived in California all my life. I don’t recognize the place anymore.

Congrats on your relo; ditto; but a few decades earlier.

Sadly, for almost everyone concerned, the good parts of CA you and I both miss are becoming increasingly unavailable and seem likely to be gone forever.

Indeed, CA's future seems destined to be an albatross around our nation's neck.

I LIVE IN LYON COUNTY-— NORTHERN NEVADA HIGH DESERT

This country is growing.

We have VERY GOOD DEPUTIES...but a growing county can always use more good men.

County offices are in Yerington. Google it.

See if they are hiring.

MUCH lower costs of living here.

MY ACREAGE-—5 +++ acres==less than $1000 a year in taxes.

Power is under $100 a month. Car/truck/4 horse trailer ==under $150 a year in registration.

Propane for heat/hot water/cooking.

Rural live style. NO STREET LIGHTS NO SIDEWALKS-—Nearest 7-11 is about 25 miles away. Dollar General is about 6 miles. Livestock everywhere. Cows—horses—goats—some sheep, etc.

ALL THE SCHOOL CLASSES K-12 are on one piece of land with different buildings. BUS pick ups.

Can give more info.

To what do you attribute that attitude?

You are not far off from being correct. What they will get will be far below normal standards and it will reflect in their policing or attempts at policing. You will hear about more corruption, abuse and brutality because you are running off your truly qualified officers.

I listen to a podcast of retired California officers called War Stories/Locker Room and they talk about officers in California now having to call a sergeant or watch commander to get permission to arrest someone. My son’s a patrolman in a small Kentucky town and he usually leads his department in charges and arrests each month with no permission from a sergeant or watch commander. They would chew him out and ask him why he’s calling them 90% of the time when he makes an arrest. California is truly la-la land.

The whole point is to bring about a National Police Force, controlled from DNC Headquarters.
