It's no secret that Judge Juan Merchan is a partisan judge who has exhibited prejudicial behavior against Donald Trump in his Manhattan trial, but famed lawyer and law professor Alan Dershowitz had to see for himself. He attended the Trump trial on Monday and was appalled at what he saw.
Dershowitz appeared on Sean Hannity's show on Fox News Monday evening, during which he destroyed Merchan for his conduct during the testimony of Michael Cohen's former lawyer, Bob Costello. It got extremely tense at times, and Merchan even cleared the courtroom before scolding Costello over his alleged violation of decorum.
“I’d like to discuss proper decorum in my courtroom. As a witness in my courtroom, if you don’t like my rulings, you don’t say, ‘Jeez,’” Merchan reportedly told Costello. "You don't give me side eye, and you don't roll your eyes."
While the public was removed for that moment, Dershowitz, who is not involved in the case, was surprisingly allowed to remain.
"I've got to imagine in all the years you practice law, have you ever seen anything like this?" Hannity asked.
"No, I never have," Dershowitz replied. "I sat in the front row, literally just feet away from where all the action occurred. I rolled my eyes when the judge made some rulings that were absurd. Any first-year evidence student would understand that he was making biased rulings in favor of one side."
"I stared him down, but Costello didn't," Dershowitz continued. "He acted like a normal witness, and the judge went berserk. The judge violated Trump's constitutional right to a public trial by kicking the media out of the courtroom. I don't know why I wasn't kicked out, and I heard him lecture Costello…

"I'm sure Costello was trying to hide his contempt for the court, but the judge had such a thin skin that he threatened him. He said he would strike the testimony and hold him in contempt if he rolled his eyes again. You have a constitutional right to roll your eyes and to stare at anybody. It was absurd!"

He would not have accepted a pardon from Donald Trump after he had previously said he would do anything to avoid prison. This judge has committed more reversible errors in the one day I was in the courtroom than I've seen in years and years of practicing law."
Why do I get the feeling that Merchan is looking for an out to this fiasco but something or someone is forcing him to proceed.

And all of this nonsense is designed to tie up Trump. If somehow there is a “conviction” it will assuredly be immediately appealed due to the absurdity of the banana court. So many Constitutional violations and court errors it almost seems it is being constructed for the very purpose of setting up an appeal to further ensnare and distract Trump.

Merchan is fixated on "getting Trump".
In general, leftists are not worried about procedure or rules. What they want is results. How they get the results is not very relevant.
Merchan is what the judicial system ought not be. Videos of him could be used in law schools showing students how not to operate a courtroom.

Freisler was killed in a bombing the following January. I wonder if Merchan is worried that Trump might drop a house on him, when he returns to office?
Merchan is only there to pronounce Trump “guilty”.
The Socialist Democrats know full well this joker will be reversed on appeal. They just want to convict Trump for the election,
yes, an let’s hope that any of this or the truth matters to at least one juror-it may not as the god/relgion of the left is their polticial agenda is all that matters
Alan is an honest man and his willingness to speak up against the corruption of our judicial system is courageous and... prayerfully....it will prove helpful
we absolutely have to find a way to clean up the legal system or it will bury USA
Some people are hoping for a hung jury and that is not impossible but I think the chances are pretty slim, maybe 10%.
Assuming the judge gets the conviction he wants, does he order Trump to prison immediately or let the appeals play out first? The White House and DOJ (who are behind the case in the first place) would love to see Trump imprisoned but that might be a bridge too far even for Merchan.
Costello pointed out that Bragg did not present his exculpatory evidence to the grand jury even though he was required to do so. If he had, the grand jury probably wouldn't have voted for a trial.
Merchan is dreaming of the day, and the notoriety he will get if he becomes the judge to send Trump to jail. That is his motivation. He will be hailed as a hero in some circles, even though his reputation as a fair judge has been demolished.
I dont have a problem with that . Rolling eyes, sighing, scoffing etc are not allowed in court. What I have a problem with is the threat to strike his testimony if it persisted. Marchand should have threatened contempt; threatening to strike defense evidence because of the behavior of a defense witness is not a proper sanction
