Israel claims to have found about 50 cross-border tunnels underneath the boundary between Rafah, in the Gaza Strip, and Egypt — tunnels that could have been used by Hamas terrorists to smuggle in weapons to use against Israel.
The Foundation for the Defense of Democracies noted on Friday:
Israel went public on May 17 with the discovery of 50 smuggling tunnels leading from the southern Gazan city of Rafah to Egypt. Defending Israel against South African-filed genocide allegations at the International Court of Justice, attorney Gilad Noam devoted part of his remarks to the ongoing military operation in Rafah, a focus of international pro-Palestinian advocacy.
In addition to hosting four Hamas battalions and their reinforcements from elsewhere in the Gaza Strip, Rafah is the site of “an intricate underground tunnel infrastructure that runs underneath the city and provides ample space for operatives, command and control rooms, and military equipment,” Noam said.
“Nearly 700 tunnel shafts have been identified in Rafah, from which approximately 50 tunnels cross into Egypt. These tunnels are used by Hamas to supply itself with weapons and ammunition, and could potentially be used to smuggle out of Gaza hostages or Hamas senior operatives.”

With raw sewage.........
Yup, and or MOAB the entrances and exits. Let those rats die in their rat tunnels and nests. Don't bother sending IDF soldiers in...just trap those rats with high tech. If there are Palis down there helping Hamas, then they are not civilians. Kill them all.
What happened to the original idea to FLOOD TUNNELS???
So does this mean that elements in the Egyptian military are turning a blind eye to these tunnels?
If so, not good.
That would make it easy to transfer refugees from Rafah to tent camps in the Sinai like they do everywhere else in the world. We give them $1.3 billion, we could boost it a little.
While the first instinct is to destroy the tunnels, it may be wise to use them to herd what is left of the Pali population into Egypt since Egypt will not allow the Pali scum to cross into Egypt on the surface.
700 tunnels!
More Aid!! They obviously need a lot more aid.
They Egyptian military is Shocked ! Shocked ! to find tunnelling going on cross border in Gaza.
amazing nobody knew about these...
Well, they werent smuggling weapons INTO Egypt.
Egypt has laws about that…
Now we know why the Biden Junta wanted to protect Rafah...
And yet we’re still sending “aid” to Egypt. Not that they knew anything about those tunnels or anything. Go figure.
Bkmk
First of all, the Israelis did flood some of the tunnels west of Gaza city. Close to the sea. Gaza is seven miles wide at the southern end where Rafah is. That is a lot of piping.
It would be like saying we are going to flood all the subway tunnels in Manhattan. It would require hundreds of millions of gallons of water. Except Gaza is not solid rock like parts of Manhattan is. The water would eventually just go down into the sand.
It is easier to plug the tunnels with the foam bombs. Similar to the foam insulation you buy in a can at the Home Centers. It expands and fills up the entrance to the tunnel. Blocking the entrance to the tunnel with a 30’ long plug.
There was also a lot of intelligence materials in the tunnels. Flood them and its all destroyed.
They were letting them smuggle weapons into Gaza. In exchange for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood(two peas in a pod) to not do any naughty things in Egypt.
Basically the Egyptian government was letting the Muslim Brotherhood arm Hamas as long as they did not do bad things in Egypt.
Sounds similar to what the FBI did with the Fast and Furious selling weapons that were only supposed to be used in Ol Mexico.
Should have just relocated the homeless Gazans into these “Escape” tunnels along with some Egyptian currency and sent them to safety at the other end. Once they were all safe on the other side they need to blow them up to prevent the evil IDF from chasing them! (A kind of reverse exodus...)
Israel is concerned it may take draining the entire Mediterranean Sea
to flood the entire rat tunnel system.
Flood the tunnels with cement.
