Actually, Mossad was for years issued the .22 Baretta, and agents were told to use two shots. Not one.

I knew many Iranians when was in college, and when I was in the Navy, I was going to A-School (jets) with scores of Iranians learning how to perform maintenance on their F-14s we were selling them.

I had generally liked and admired the Iranians I have known, even if there were a few who took on quite a different persona when the hostage crisis occurred, and were a-holes. But more than a few did not want to return to Iran after the Shah was betrayed, but they had no choice in the matter.

It has been a source of pain to me to see what a few generations there have become under that Islamic crap. I had a lot of hope for Iran at one time.

The whole area was weakened by 400 years of warfare with the Romans and the Plague of Justinian (roughly 100 years earlier!). When Islam came out of the desert it punched an almost empty bag.

Only 7 shots does not rule out Arkancide.

WOW!

Remember that Sopranos episode where Tony drove Meadow up to New England to check out a private college she was interested in, and to also rub out a traitor to the mob who happened to be hiding out in the same neighborhood - and Meadow noticed that his shoes were muddy and induced that he had been involved in mobbish activity?

His weapon of choice looked to me like a Ruger bull barrel target MKII pistol, courtesy of uninformed prop managers who thought there might be something extra-sinister looking about the Ruger.

Wrong, I was. THIS is what Tony was armed with that day. Now one is trying to recall, what exactly happened? One does recall that Tony unfortunately snuck up on the guy from behind and got the jump on him...

Oh well, one learns something every day. Not gonna say nothing about personal firearms choices.

The Iranian State Police are not like Police in the US. These are the guys coordinating the oppression of the populace.

Seems the Police in the US have veered in that direction in the past decade. The number of times we've read about the Police standing on the sidelines as crimes are being committed is criminal itself.

Iranian President, Foreign Minister Killed in Helicopter Crash
It remains unclear what caused the crash.

Iranian state media reported on Monday that President Ebrahim Raisi, the country’s foreign minister, and several other officials died in a helicopter crash in the northwest of country. Iran’s supreme leader has also confirmed the deaths.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who holds ultimate power in Iran, said on the social media platform X that he had received “the bitter news of the martyrdom” of Mr. Raisi and his entourage.

“This bitter tragedy took place while he was serving the people,” he said.

Mr. Raisi was traveling in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the province’s governor, and other officials when the crash happened on Sunday.

A search and rescue operation was immediately launched in the area of the crash site. Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency later reported that all passengers aboard the helicopter had been “martyred.”

The state-run IRNA news agency also posted a similar statement on X, declaring that Mr. Raisi and his entourage died in the crash. It remains unclear what caused the crash.

I thought about that, but I wonder if the police would be an Israeli target.

As others have pointed out, the police are instrumental to regime control, and thus would be a target for a 'destabilization' op.

On the other hand, they are sufficiently hated that I wouldn't be shocked if the guy's elimination had domestic Iranian origins. It wasn't that long ago that the Iranian police beat some poor woman to death for having a loose headcovering, which led to mass protests, women openly burning hijabs in the streets, and a subsequent crackdown that included tens of thousands of arrests and over 500 killed. I'm sure there are more than a few Iranians who wouldn't mind putting Mr. Radan's severed head on display at this point.

(I hope it's true, but no confirmation that I can see so far)

I am remembering that these government officials are the ones their parents and grand parents rioted for in 1978. I always figured the grand kids would rise up against the mullahs if they had the weapons to do it with.

Is Valerie worried about this series of events? I would think that she is more hardline than the deceased President.
