Republicans See Warning Signs for Trump in Southern Battleground State

President Donald Trump’s national polling advantage has narrowed to less than one percent since he became the presumptive Republican nominee in the race for the White House.

In two Southern battlegrounds, Georgia and North Carolina, his lead looks stronger at five-and-a-half points and six points, respectively.

But can the region be written off as solidly Trump? The answer isn’t so obvious in key cities, counties, and polling places....

On the ground, conservatives sense weakness.

“Republicans have got to organize the grassroots to the same level [as] the Democrats,” a local GOP insider told The Epoch Times.

That sentiment was echoed by every Republican and conservative from the area who spoke with The Epoch Times.

Some also worried the RNC isn’t spending enough, even after Michael Whatley, former chair of the North Carolina GOP, took over the national party from Ronna McDaniel.

vast fortunes are just part of the story. There’s also a lot of legwork by motivated liberals and Democrats.

Indivisible Charlotte’s webpage showcases numerous events in late April and early May: canvassing, postcard writing, even Taco Tuesdays. The group is just one grassroots organization among many. Pastor Leon Threatt, a member of Matthews’ Board of Commissioners who has previously run for office as a Republican, told The Epoch Times that local Democrats “operate far more as activists than the Republicans.”

I know he’s in good shape.

Failing to note that Raffensberger wants to tip over the cart is…..not smart.

Kemp, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development and far too many state legislatures and county commissions have zero problem with this state being overrun with liberals from all over the country

Kemp won in ‘18 he said he wanted to make Georgia the #1 EV crap in the country.

Duncan, when that sorry POS was Lt Gov, wanted Georgia to become the tech hub of the East.

Go to the development at the old GM plant in Doraville. Find me a Trump supporter and people that are born and raised in Georgia.

If it continues, just like many other states, statewide positions will be dictated by Democrats and liberals in about 12 or so counties.

'Blame squarely land in the laps of all the RINO/Chamber of Commerce/CountryClub/UNIPARTY “Republicans” and ridiculous development authorities that have been selling out both states for the last 20-30 years, at least.'

That's all of the south, not just Georgia and N. Carolina. Governors and other politicians only want to invite blue refugees and other peoples to help destroy southern areas. They can't destroy the areas fast enough.

“Raffensberger wants Ranked Choice Voting and to do away with runoffs.”

There can be no runoff election in a Presidential race. Runoff elections in Georgia only apply to congressional, state- executive, and state-legislative primary and general elections.

Uhhh Duhhhh!!

His goal isn’t a Presidential election. They’ll be enough fraud in that one that will never get investigated.

It’s about flipping county commmissions and the state legislature to the Democrats. It’s about flipping US House reps to favor the Democrats.

Him and his pals at Landmark Communications will put up Democrats posing as Republicans, like him and so many others in Georgia, that with RCV they’ll tilt an election. Just like they did in Alaska and Maine.

Runoffs hurt Republican candidates in the most recent U.S. Senate races, with Ossoff winning in 2021 and Warnock winning in 2022. In both cases, the voting margin for the Democrat *increased* in the runoff compared to the general election. The reason was that many Republican voters, especially in North Georgia, failed to show up at the runoff elections.

A Trump rally reflects just a tiny fraction of the votes he’ll need to win the election across the country. Among other things, Trump rallies have many attendees who repeatedly attend, like Grateful Dead fans. Unlike our opposition, they can only vote once.

The reason was that many Republican voters, especially in North Georgia, failed to show up at the runoff elections.……NAH

The reason was that Republicans won outright. They cheated to keep close and necessitate a runoff.

So, did voters stay home? Yes

Why? Because we all know that Kemp, Raffensberger, and Care will them steal whatever they want, however they can.

Ballots are so be saved for 22 months. Runoffs are supposed to happen first week of December.

Why did Dekalb destroy its ballots 2 months after the runoff and nothing done?

Does anyone think the same stuff didn’t happen in Cobb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Richmond, Chatham, Douglas, Clayton, Henry, Muscogee counties?

Why did Raffensberger shred and destroy Fulton ballots?

Why did Raffensberger extend time for the runoff and encourage people to register for it? Those rules come from the legislature. SOS enforces the rules from congress, he doesn’t make them up. Nothing done.

I note that without lifting a finger Rats have half the EVs they need out of the gate when you add up: California, New York, Massachussetts, Illinois.

” ... did voters stay home? Yes”

And then made it even easier for a close election to be “stolen” if you think that is what happened. Brilliant.

Voters are frustrated. You can bitch about that all you want.

Raffensberger was polling in the toilet. And somehow won a race.

I’m a conservative. I voted for a democrat for a county commission seat in the hopes of getting rid of the Democrat hoodrat that currently occupies then seat.

Democrats scheme and plan. They knew that keeping Raffensberger as SOS, they’ll keep doing what they do. They know he won’t help anyone in trying to uncover any of the fraud and illegal stuff that went on in ‘20 & ‘22.

“Voters are frustrated. You can bitch about that all you want.”

I’m simply pointing out that we are sometimes are own worst enemy, whether out of frustration or stupidity.

“Raffensberger was polling in the toilet. And somehow won a race.”

Raffensberger benefitted from facing Jody Hice, who is much too conservative to win a state-wide race in today’s Georgia. Hice foolishly resigned from a safe, conservative House district seat to run against Raffensberger, and lost by 18%. That margin of defeat is too large to blame on fraud.

If only allowed Registered Republican Voters were allowed to vote and select the Republican candidate, Hice would have walked away with it.

IOW, having a closed primary.

I don’t know what Republican voters you’re talking about, the ones I know(me included) would prefer that if all democrats couldn’t be sent to Chicago, NYC, Boston, LA, or Seattle, they’d be relegated to about 4 or 5 counties, can’t vote for anything except state and local elections, and have no control over school boards.

Agree that we our own worst enemies because we continue to allow corrupt RINOs on local and state GOP boards to be gatekeepers on who runs.

Majority are way too complacent about allowing city councils and county commissions to the decision makers and shot callers with regards to out of control development, regulations and taxes.

If I remember correctly, Newton Cty commission is thinking of legislation to curtail public comments.

I share your dismay at many county commissions in Geeorgia. I live in the “Peoples’ Republic” of Athens/Clarke County, so I have to endure extreme left-wing local politics. Fortunately, the state legislature has gerrymandered surrounding House districts so that the Athens votes are split among more conservative counties nearby.

I don’t want party registration in Georgia because that information could be used one day by Democrats in power to target opposition voters.

I disagree about Hice. He had no chance to win a state-wide election under the existing rules (party crossovers allowed), and he foolishly gave up a safe House seat to take that chance. Fortunately, an equally conservative Republican (on most issues), Mike Collins, won his vacated House seat.

I’m a little southwest, in Newton.

The county run by corrupt black democrats that love the fact that Newton is becoming the “industrial landfill” when they want to build something, somewhere, with the promise of jobs, jobs, jobs

These folks got on their knees to Kemp and Rivian promising 7500+ jobs, for a failing industry and a failing company. **Illinois just gave them $900mil to expand there. These clowns can’t fathom that it takes fewer people to build an EV. Silverado plant has 800 employees…..an effin’ joke

Toss in the fact that Atlanta is pricing folks out, more “build to rent” developments coming, more warehouses because they think the shipping industry is going to shut down in California, shortages in policing, gonna be good times down here

I can only hope that Jones is like me, ascends to Governor and starts cleaning process.

#1 on hisToDo List….lower the film tax credit to $299million. The same number that Newsome offered. However he were to a true rock star, eliminate completely and send all the liberal migrants that came with it, back to where they came from.

Agree completely. These state policies aiming to attract industry inevitable cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per job “created.” I doubt that Rivian will ever produce a single vehicle in Morgan County. Before I retired, I used to help the UGA Institute of Government prepare “fiscal notes” for the Georgia legislature, which required an estimate of the state-budget implications (if any) for proposed legislation. Most of what we did was analyze proposed tax giveaways like those for the film industry.

I know many people want to get rid of the state income tax in order to compete with Florida and Tennessee for businesses and workers. But nobody has said how even half of the lost revenue would be replaced.
