If Donald Trump wins a second term in the White House in November, NATO may fall apart, a recent wargame found.
As a presidential candidate, Trump has threatened to quit NATO unless European allies contribute more, and should he carry it out Europe may decide to go it alone on defense, the game suggests. "A US policy of frustrating NATO has the potential to cause the alliance to collapse, with the EU as a candidate for eventually replacing NATO's ultimate function — defending Europe from Russia," wrote Finley Grimble, the British defense expert who designed and ran the game.
The US doesn't have to withdraw from NATO to imperil the 75-year-old alliance. Technically, the US is barred from leaving NATO after Congress voted in 2023 to prohibit withdrawal without congressional approval.
But the game showed how Trump — the presumptive Republican presidential nominee who said on the campaign trail that he'd encourage Russia to "do whatever the hell they want" with NATO allies who spend too little on their militaries — could undermine NATO simply by doing as little as possible to support the alliance. "What Donald Trump can do is just really hollow out what NATO does," Grimble told Business Insider. "He doesn't need to leave NATO to ruin it. He can ruin it from within."
Grimble, who has conducted wargames for the British government, conceived of this game after claims by former US National Security Adviser John Bolton that he talked then-President Trump out of withdrawing from NATO in 2018. He designed a tabletop simulation where the players — mostly British specialists in defense, intelligence and foreign policy — assumed the role of leaders of the 32 NATO nations, plus Ukraine and Russia; China was played by the umpires.

If that were true then NATO would have disbanded after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
And this is supposed to be a “bad” thing?!? We can bring a large portion of our military home and cut some stupid defense budgeting that does NOT defend the US!

If other countries want our defense, then they should pay the total cost of our troops and equipment and support being there.

This is the fear methods used to keep us engaged in a war. A long with many other contrived situations. Ie.. Climate It is them that are the ‘conspiracy theorists’. How long has this war been going on? Russia gave ample warning for years about NATO. Everyone has their line.. they let it be known loud and clear that was a line.

Since WWII we have kept the entire Euro continent safe. Trillions poured into rebuilding Europe, rebuilding everything from lives to buildings, rails, roads, bridges, and chicken houses. I served nearly 10 years in West Germany. I went to the two major military training bases in Germany, Grafenwöhr and Hoenfels, twice each. All four times I spent a month to six weeks each trip down. I was in the 2/14th Armored Cav Regiment, later redesignated the 2/11th ACR. In each trip, I NEVER saw more than 25 West German soldiers around the major troop area we were in. We all shared the same canteen (the drinking hall type), we, the Germans, Brits, some French. Those are the only nationalities I saw there. There were fewer Brits and few Frogs. The USA carried the load. We were the ones who would have fought and died to protect millions of people, most of didn’t give a tinkers damned about us. The frogs loathed us, the Brits were okay. But, in all my 10 years in Germany, in dealing with Germans, both off and on duty, I would give them a C- overall grade. For each really nice German I met, I met 10 Germans who did not like Americans. Most didn’t want us there, but knew if we left they would be speaking Russian within a week. They preferred the good life under Americans there than the Soviets. I actually experienced a German tell me they did not want us there. I told him fine, I’ll go home, you defend your own country. But, yeah, now they hate us more, but need us more and the current Soviet in charge is killing and bombing his way around and wants his old Soviet Union back and seems intent on trying to accomplish just that. Trump would stop him, but Deadbrain Joe would let him and say it was Trump’s fault.
We made Europe safe for Socialism.
The Neo-Soviets will conquer Eastern Europe while the Muslims will take over Western Europe.
But that is exactly what the left has done. No need for nukes when you import millions of criminals into the cities.
