The police have one principal job — protect the Bad Guys from the Good Guys. At some point, the general public might catch on and figure our a way to remove Bad Guys from society. We don’t really need the police (at least not as they are currently employed).
Cops probably should have paused for a moment or so to tie their shoes. These citizens are very aware the DA’s office will do little or nothing to the perp. Perhaps their ire should be focused more on the enablers, just so the enablers can appreciate the “climate”.

If history means anything, we as citizens have the constitutional right of defence of our persons, property and dependents.We have the rightto form Committees of Safety and the right to assemble to enforce the rights of self defence using deadly force if necessary.
We do not need to rely on police who are prevented from doing their work to keep the peace, nor are we bound to obey the political radicas who have violated our safety with unconstitutional legal procedures whichi make our towns and cities unsafe for movement and assemby in the pursuit of happiness.
If tha leagl sitaution ion New York State continues, what you will see is that the so called “mob” in this article will organize. And perps like CUmmings may find themselves in dire circumstances, tried by a people’s court and punished as a community jury of peers decides.
NY state only has a limited about of time to reinstitute proper bail laws and holding of felons pending trial.The committees of safety are already being organized. People are tired of having their kids shot in the street and in their homes by stray bullets.

That’s a very perceptive and observation. The people who want to get rid of cops really should be careful what they wish for. A world without cops, courts, and jails would be decidedly unfriendly to them.

I agree. Yours is the first post from here that comports with several I have posted. Cops protect criminals, that’s their job, they need criminals to have a job, thus the abysmally low closure rate. I do go a step further and say all cops are pigs. I make an exception for a Constitutional sheriff. As far as I know there is no Constitutional chief of police.
It all is coming down to that in self destructive Western societies. The guy who stabs the corner grocer, or the dude who sold a parents deceased child fentanyl... No one is going to miss them or mount a million dollar search and investigation.
NY cops love their criminal justice system so much they will do anything to protect it, the judges, Bragg etc.
