Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) wasted little time after 163 Democrats voted to save his speakership to announce he would not use Congress’s constitutional power of the purse to stop special counsel Jack Smith’s “lawfare” against Donald Trump.
The Speaker, in some of his earliest public comments after Democrats saved his gavel, refused to make any attempt to defund Smith’s office as it continues its prosecutions of Trump.
“That’s not something you wave a wand and just eliminate the special counsel as a provision,” Johnson told Politico. “There is a necessity for a function like that, because sometimes the Department of Justice — which is an executive branch agency — can’t necessarily, without a conflict of interest, investigate or prosecute the president who’s their boss, or the president’s family.”

Cut it out. Trump didn’t pick him. Trump is the candidate and deSantis is not and will not be.

I’m kind of mixed on this as eventually the Democrats win EVERY fight of this type, so trying to hold out is just another lost cause for our side. But more so is the way that his case is getting destroyed in court, which is FAR BETTER for Trump, as it will be far harder for the Dems to simply claim that the Republicans are protecting him, as the judge is simply taking everything apart and letting the country (at least those who pay attention) learn just how corrupt our government has gotten.
The corruption runs too deep. Looks like we’re over the cliff at this point.

He can't possibly believe this is right. He may be less than just another politician.
Nothing a feckless weakling like Johnson can do, that is.
They didn’t even appoint Jack Smith to BE special counsel. He has no more standing to charge Donald Trump (or anybody) than I do. The whole thing is illegal, and his arguments make no sense when you realize that JACK SMITH is pissing on the whole “special counsel” idea.
But everything we see right now is what we expect from a hostage government. The Deep State is really, really trying for a Civil War. Poking our eyes at every point, just to show us they can and to infuriate us beyond fighting intelligently. We should probably all just ignore everything out of Washington DC right now, except to push for the investigations being done by the House committee chairs, so that when we get rid of the treasonous Merrick Garland we can have criminal referrals for all the Deep State crooks waiting at the new AG’s desk.
There aren’t any good picks. The Deep State has them all over a barrel. Six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.
The only way out of this is to get rid of the Deep State. But doing that will require the Presidency and at least a majority in the House.
Everything we see now is psy ops, to get us too angry to fight with our brains. If we hold together to do the only things that can change this blatantly rigged Deep State orgy, we CAN force these crooks to eat the very crap they try to feed us. But we must NOT let ourselves get more angry than fiercely determined to succeed.
In the run-up to November, things are going to get really dirty and the truth is going to get twisted.
Trump backs Johnson because he knows things we don't. Trump has a long history with Johnson. Johnson worked closely with Trump in trying to get the truth out about 2020 election fraud. And Trump knows this is not a good time to be piling on Johnson.
But, as to Trump picks, isn't that an insult by you? Aren't you saying sarcastically that he has bad judgment when it comes to people? I don't necessarily disagree, but this isn't good time to be insulting our only candidate.
Well, we have entered the phase where lives are going to be lost. The corruption will not allow “change” now that Obama implemented that change.

No one in the party and no one in the entire legal system is stepping in to say what a travesty and miscarriage of justice this is. They’re all afraid of cancel culture.
I think it’s going to be a long, dark road to get America back. Maybe in a century or two? Or maybe it will be exponentially worse by then and we’ll all be required by the state to fly chinese flags or face execution without trial. I purposely did not capitalize the ‘c’ word in the last sentence.
So Trump hasn’t defended him and promoted him multiple times?
Johnson is another RINO that needs to be booted out. I pray that Trump is elected, but feel sorry for him. He’ll be impeached every month by the RATS and the other RATS.
How many of those find what she did unacceptable eat meat? How is killing a dog any different than killing a cow, pig or chicken? What’s the difference?
There are a greater percentage that find this unacceptable than find killing a fully-formed baby in the womb unacceptable.
Either get on the Trump train or you need to be zotted out of here.

Johnson isn’t a great Speaker, but he was a defender of the *47th President when he was impeached twice during the 45th Presidency.
Johnson also was one of 147 House Republicans to vote against certifying Potato Head in 2020.
*Trump will be the next President and there isn’t a damn thing his ignorant opponents can do about it.
