MTG Pulls the Trigger, Forces the House to Vote to Expel Speaker Johnson
Breitbart ^ | 08 May 2024 | Bradley Jaye

Posted on 05/08/2024 2:28:41 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has filed a privileged motion to vacate the chair, forcing the House to vote within two legislative days to eject Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

Johnson is expected to immediately move to table – and effectively kill – the motion, a vote which requires a simple majority. Yet House rules do not prohibit Greene, or any other lawmaker, from forcing additional votes, and she and her allies have not tipped their hand as to what they’ll do should the motion be killed.

Further, Johnson’s immediate future, despite assurances from Johnson-friendly media outlets, is far from certain. Some Republicans, including those who will vote against ejecting Johnson, may vote against the tabling motion out of principle. Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) has announced he would do so, although he has not said how he will vote on the motion to vacate itself.

Greene pulled the trigger Wednesday after almost two months of warnings for Johnson to end his coalition government with Democrats during which the endangered Speaker unleashed a torrent of President Joe Biden’s priorities into law.

While long anticipated, the motion’s inevitability seemed to wane this week as Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) met Monday and Tuesday with Johnson for a combined three hours to discuss a path forward. The pair proposed four accountability measures to ensure the Speaker would not advance an agenda opposed by a majority of Republicans, including preventing further American funding of Ukraine’s faraway war.

Johnson had continued to state he was hearing the duo out and considering their proposals while insisting it was “not a negotiation.”

But Tuesday evening, after complaining (yet again) he had not been getting enough sleep, Johnson appeared to let the veil drop, sneering and rolling his eyes when asked if he would give Greene an answer soon.

the arsenic spewed by them will be there for all the he country to see

they will own the national murder/suicide

the cirizens will loathe them finally once and for all

expising them as the evil traiters for the nation to see

and run out of office on rails at the ballot box

Maybe what Greene is doing is tactically wise, or not wise. But someone has to throw a shot across the bow of the Uniparty.

I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s got Spirit, she’s got Fight, and I believe she’ll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come.

However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country. With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we’re not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate.

At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time. We are leading in the Presidential Polls by a lot, both Nationally and in the Swing States. Likewise, we are doing well in the Senate, and I believe will do well in the House. But if we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything!

Mike Johnson is a good man who is trying very hard. I also wish certain things were done over the last period of two months, but we will get them done, together. It is my request that Republicans vote for “THE MOTION TO TABLE.” We WILL WIN BIG - AND IT WILL BE SOON! From President Trump!!! HE IS RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not a good idea ...
We should wait until after Trump’s re-election to sort this.

Where’s Gaetz?

Gaetz voted to table the motion. In other words, Gaetz supports Johnson retaining the gavel.

What is Johnson doing for the party? Absolutely nothing, accept giving the Democrats everything they want. Jefferies said we may be the minority party, but we are running the show.

Johnson agreed to 7 points before his name was put up for becoming the Speaker. He agreed to them. Since then he has ignored & violated every single one of those 7 points.

Not only is he a worthless Speaker, just as bad as McCarthy, he's lair just like McCarthy also.

We need a couple hundred MTGs. If we had that this wouldn't have been a worthless majority Congress that has done nothing as far as I am concerned.

Tring to blame her, is ludicrous.

Do you really think the average American knows this is going on? They barely know that there are three branches of government.

Jordan’s subpoena power is probably gone now. Hence, the Cohen referral, as the last gasp of real committee power. Gee, thanks, Marjorie. Hakeem is having the last laugh.

at this point, what difference does it make

It's been nearly 43 years since I departed Germany. Although I've probably forgotten 95%+ of the German I knew, I've never forgotten "Es macht nichts," it doesn't matter.

has "0" accomplishments politically.

Most of the front and center voices we hear from these days seem to be mostly for show and in reality have little to show legislatively. A lot of people applaud the “show” and pay little attention to the results.

she worked for her daddy...where she could probably do anything she liked and get away with it..."Daddy's little girl."

I never paid much attention to her background, but that would explain a lot.

Pretty much everyone here is outraged over the border.

You continue to make points against the clown show.

I get the confusion though-your side is better informed than Pres Trump.

No other conclusion exists or else it would’ve appeared by now.

Greene got a smack down of historical proportions. She was roundly booed by both sides. It took less then a minute for the motion to table to reach a majority of votes. 10 Republicans voted along with Greene against tabling the motion to vacate.

As with Obamacare, whatever they successfully institute legislatively does not go away. Democrats are prepared to sacrifice their members to get agendas done.

Liberals don’t care if they are hated, because they rationalize that hate away, as long as they get free money from the population.

Not a single program that I’m aware of, that Democrats have successfully instituted went away when they lost power.
