In 2010, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was experiencing memory loss and mental fogginess so severe that a friend grew concerned he might have a brain tumor. Mr. Kennedy said he consulted several of the country’s top neurologists, many of whom had either treated or spoken to his uncle, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, before his death the previous year of brain cancer.
Several doctors noticed a dark spot on the younger Mr. Kennedy’s brain scans and concluded that he had a tumor, he said in a 2012 deposition reviewed by The New York Times. Mr. Kennedy was immediately scheduled for a procedure at Duke University Medical Center by the same surgeon who had operated on his uncle, he said.
While packing for the trip, he said, he received a call from a doctor at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital who had a different opinion: Mr. Kennedy, he believed, had a dead parasite in his head.
The doctor believed that the abnormality seen on his scans “was caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died,” Mr. Kennedy said in the deposition.

Poor parasite, it got poisoned
This is from a 2012 deposition. I'm no more a Kennedy fan than you are, but it's not as if "the dude" just now boneheadedly stated this to the media. The NYT dug up a 12-year-old court record as part of its Biden protection mission (despite its editors' protestations).
That said, Kennedy admitting under oath that a worm ate his brain is hilarious.
Or pigs with access to human feces. Probably from Central America or Africa although there was a case recently of tapeworm cysts in the brain of a man with a predilection for undercooked bacon. Kennedy is fortunate if his only symptoms were mental fog.
very nasty parasites can survive and enter the body from improperly handled sushi fish ... essentially, fish intended for sushi needs to be frozen at -4°F for seven days or -31°F for 15 hours to kill parasites.
article states RFKJ got mercury poisoning from eating too much large deep sea fish, so very likely the parasite came from one of those fish as well ...
The “House” series shows all kinds of disgusting parasite stories.
it’s not common- although cases are rising- but for now, it’;s isolated and not many folks get it- if you have a garden, and rats are prevalent, it might be wise to wash produce thoroughly- but if rats are not very prevalent, then it woudl be very rare to get it-
Well. That explains some things.
Look, I don’t even understand the relevance of this topic. Why do we have to pollute Free Republic with these things?
Rachel Maddow has nothing at all to do with this!
LMAO!
Poor Chekov!
Sounds like raccoon roundworm as a kid.
I hate it when that happens.
Must have caught it from Joe Bribem.
On the other hand, according to the infectious disease experts and neurosurgeons citied in the article it was likely a pork tapeworm larva. The symptoms of memory loss and foggy thinking is more consistent with mercury poisoning.
I was the only student in the history at UTK that took a proficiency exam in parasitology and walked out with four hour credit in the 4000 level course with an “A”. There are many parasites that are not primarily human parasites that infect humans and get lost...ending up in the brain. One can be infected in a myriad of ways...ingestion or insect bites.
But not before it laid eggs....
I was waiting for it! KHAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!
Reminds me of an old NIGHT GALLERY story. “The Caterpillar”(1972)
