Authorities claim there's no need for sentencing hearing, bail option..
A state legal action in Pennsylvania is sparking outrage .. for the result it demanded: Two farmers arrested and jailed on 30-day sentences with no sentencing hearing and no option for bail.

This is an unlawful civil contempt order. There are certain procedures that must be followed in a civil contempt action and to our knowledge those were not followed here. Even if they had been followed, the maximum allowable punishment is 15 days in jail which must be conditional, with keys to your own jail cell – meaning there is a condition you can meet to immediately end your incarceration. None of that is true in this case.
The state claims this is a punishment for not complying with a subpoena to turn over documents, but an agency can’t just order anyone to turn over any document they please. For a subpoena to be valid, the jurisdictional validity of the subpoena must be established, and it has not been in this case. Both men had sought the advice of an attorney regarding the case and had been told that the Veterinary Medical Board had no jurisdiction over them, that the subpoena was therefore invalid, and that there was nothing Ethan and Rusty needed to do.
There is no evidence that Ethan or Rusty ever saw the order the state claims to have mailed to them last August which threatened them with arrest if they did not comply.

Az is this way. The court serves you through the mail with a signature required. If you don’t sign you have given the agency and judge the middle finger and a warrant goes out. Or in a civil case it is automatically a failure to appear and forfeit.
And they only let it sit in your box a certain amount of days, if you don’t check your box but every couple weeks it may come and go without you ever knowing. This is a problem for all the rural folks who do not have home delivery and only go to town to get their mail once every couple weeks.
Another example of “one size fits all” city mentality that everyone has home physical delivery like they do in the city. A lot of rural areas just do not.
Amen! And they will.
If true, their first attorney’s advice to just ignore the State and carry on sucked big time. Even if they disputed that what they were doing was practicing veterinary medicine, once the State was after them, they had to deal with that and not pretend it would all go away if they closed their eyes.
Maybe that person was practicing law without being licensed by the State, but I seriously doubt it.
Nope. Nothing will be done to them.
Sadly you are right, but they should lose their license for abuse of power and prosecutorial misconduct
What makes you think they voted for this?
I agree.
This happened to me several years ago. I now have disclosed delivery, which means I get a photographic copy of items delivered to my address.
The articles in question were delivered to the wrong address AND the cards were marked signature on file.
Went to post office master and complained and write a letter explaining what happened. The ‘fine’ was removed. The carrier on the route was fired.
More garbage/corrupt behavior by our judiciary.
You bring the cattle into a pen and one-by-one place them into a cattle squeeze. The vet can determine pregnancy with his hand inserted into the proper place. No ultrasound needed.

Welcome to Biden’s America. Fair trials are so, Magna Carta...
Robert Barnes is an excellent attorney. I’ve been watching his video’s about this. The State of PA (democrats) bureaucraps are off the reservation. This is attempt to punish people for not being licensed to do a procedure that under the law is not licensed.
State of PA Bureaurocrap.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Manual palpitation works, but ultra sound is much easier, less of a PITA, literally.
Issue here is not method, but by whom, which is not vets in this case. Non-vets can do it, but not for $$.
I don’t know if the question is about “they” or “this.” They live in Pennsylvania and tolerate this kind of government behavior and if they did not personally vote for it, they knew their neighbors did. This is what communist governments do.
Calling Dr. Pol. He still does it by feel.
This is “Bull-Crap.” I hope they counter sue.
It’s a lot more expensive to pay a vet to do a herd check than to purchase a portable ultrasound, especially if you have a large herd.
My brother in law, a radiologist, donated his old ultrasound to a famous kennel to monitor the dogs pregnancies.
Discourage people from wanting to be farmers, so we can have State-Run “Kolkholzes”, that would make Stalin envious.
