Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) knocked Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) effort to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) as “silly,” while praising him as a “strong” conservative.
“I think it is silly,” Cruz said during this Thursday appearance on RealClearPolitics’ radio show.
“I think it is seriously counterproductive. I think Mike Johnson is a strong conservative who has been given an almost impossible task. He has a tiny majority in the House, just a two-vote majority,” he continued. “That means any three House members run off to the hills, and then the majority evaporates.”
Cruz said that Greene’s effort, which was initiated in March and is expected to come to the House floor next week, boosts the likelihood of “chaos” ensuing in the lower chamber and giving control to members of the Democratic Party.

Johnson is an Assistant Democrat, but months before a Presidential election is not the time to get rid of him.
Then someone needs to uh, reason with him.
MTG is right. At this point there is no difference in the two parties as evidenced by their votes and rubber stamping.
The whole of DC and most all states look like the old CCCP.
Which once again demonstrates Cruz's lack of judgment and why he should never run for President again or be considered for Republican leader in the Senate.
Maybe trying to get a Democrat or two to vote with Republicans would be helpful?
Some people are focusing on the "strong conservative" phrasing and taking issue with it, but I put the really important words in red.
When Johnson was chosen, many cited his strong conservative credentials and views.
Is he no longer a conservative? Or is he just a weak leader?
What makes this an impossible task? Geiock....pretty easy to me. Nothing in the constitution even suggeat you have to pass new legislation every week.
conservatives, defining who is, and who is not a conservative, is why I walked away from that label years ago.
The word should be Gridlock
Folks really need to wake up.
Her actions are perilous nonsense.
Apparently, they’re wasting Whatley’s time too.
He should be focused on the election and not her insubordination.
I had a moderately favorable of MTG. It’s hard to maintain given these antics.
“What makes this an impossible task? Geiock....pretty easy to me. Nothing in the constitution even suggeat you have to pass new legislation every week.”
This is what conservatives want but Johnson said early on he would not shut down the gov over any bills. He signaled then that he would allow anything to come to the floor for a vote. That is what the establishment wants. He’s not conservative. Jim Jordan would have shut the gov down and forced a better deal. That’s what Johnson is in and Jordan never stood a chance.
The problem for Cruz is Johnson explained why he flipped 180 degrees, and it made no sense. One Deep state briefing from the same unit that raided Trump and tried to pin Russia on him (while defending Swalwell and Mark Warner, the latter using a Spy App to speak with Russia leaders).
He suddenly has a whole new belief system?
Ted is happy with the GOP Leadership in the Senate and House.
Johnson also believes their Job is to pass legislation.
That really means, our Job is to spend money.
We’d be better off with nothing passed for six months.
Perhaps you should look up the meaning of insubordination. MTG does not work for Johnson nor does she take orders from him. He may be the leader but he cannot order her to do anything. She is not being insubordinate but expressing her lack of trust and faith in Johnson doing what is right by Republicans. Johnson has given everything the democrats want while doing nothing for Republicans. Unfortunately, he can do a lot more damage between now and Nov if he remains.
Perhaps you should realize Pres Trump as the presumptive nominee is the leader of the party.
It is clearly dysfunctional and detracting resources from winning elections on Nov 6th-at the bare minimum.
The whole universe knows Benedict Johnson.
Pres Trump held his nose and supported the aid and Johnson.
If he can manage to do it, why can’t the rest of us do the same thing?
I think you answered your own question. The briefing was them showing Johnson the dirt they had on him.
