Very drunk Idaho man Clarence Yoder tried it, and as the saying goes, he found out.

Police caught up with Yoder at the Yellowstone hospital and arrested him.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, approaching wildlife, disturbing wildlife, and being intoxicated "to a degree that may endanger oneself".

Ahh the priorities of the feds. Kick a Bison. Go to jail. Find an eagle feather. Go to jail. Murder thousands of babies, no problem.

Are we sure “Idaho Man” isn't a Florida native?

I hope he's not an Idaho native. Maybe a Caifornicator? Amazed and somewhat disappointed he didn't win a Darwin Award.

...before the Plains Indians got the horse...

According to my historical sources (tourist art shops in Sedona) Indians always had the horse.

They used them to gaze wistfully across the plains.

Lots of gazing.

I gotta ask, where did you find that photo? That’s in Yoder, KS, a small Amish community about 20 miles from where I live.

I did a Duck Duck Go search on "Yoder meats". I've purchased some of their products in the past...like below. Prices were reasonable back then...now, not so much. To be honest, I don't remember the location of the store. It was a good product, though.

There’s a great sadness/irony: the Plains Indians had the horse for two, maybe three long lifetimes before we showed up. And old geezer in the 1860s could remember tales told by his grandfather of times when they had to hunt on foot.

Bison bashing tends to be a self-correcting behavior.

Abuse something semi-sentient, and the size of a small car, and the response is all out of proportion.
