Polls Show Mike Johnson’s Betrayals Have Fueled Historic Approval Plummeting Among Republicans, Surge Among Democrats
Breitbart ^ | 05/01/2024 | Matthew Boyle

Embattled House Speaker Mike Johnson, who will face a historic vote next week in the House of Representatives to remove his gavel and strip him of the Speakership, is plummeting among Republicans and supporters of former President Donald Trump and surging among Democrats and supporters of Democrat President Joe Biden.

When Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) calls the privileged resolution on a motion to vacate Johnson from the Speakership, Democrats intend to vote to save Johnson’s job by voting for the motion to table Greene’s resolution. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, the top Democrat in the House who has essentially seized control of the chamber from Johnson as evidenced by Democrats carrying the rule vote on the foreign aid package earlier in April, has made it clear he intends to make sure Democrats protect Johnson. But many might be asking why Democrats, who voted en masse to strip now former Speaker Kevin McCarthy of his gavel last October, would throw such a lifeline to Johnson and save him.

I’m not a fan of MJ. But Marge is trying to draw attention to herself rather than be strategic. She is infotainment rather than substance. Without an alternative, this is pointless.

So what if Johnson is exposed for getting Dem votes? That accomplished nothing of value. This country has a minority of Christians already. Why depress them further? Johnson will be even more left wing of the rats save him.

Marge is a mannish grifter

And you are... What? You have done nothing for our country, but feel entitled to hurl cheap shots at those who have. Not a good look for you at all.

If it is so painful then do something about it instead of yapping like a little dog.

“No, Mike is handing the Dems anything they want.”

No MJ is dealing with a GOP with three problems - (1) division/internal disagreement on some things, (2) a tiny House majority and even when those two things are not the worst things, (3) a Senate run by Schumer that would/will have to agree to pass anything that passes the House.

Under those three conditions the MTG’s cannot get everything they want, no matter who is the GOP speaker.

I saw one GOP House rep on Newsmx this morning. He agreed the Dims had a few poison pills in the foreign military aid bill, things he opposed while he does essentially support aid to Ukraine generally. He said he voted “present” on the bill, knowing a majority was going to pass it but he wanted to avoid voting “yay”. He said he did not see any way for MJ to deliver everything the MTG’s want, and get anytyhing passed. He said under the conditions the MTG’s want any GOP speaker might as well take the House out of session because the House won’t be getting anything passed. MTG might be happy with that, but the voters will kill the GOP over it in November.

And yet Mike Johnson will be re-elected by a wide margin in his home district … as will almost all the rest of these GOP stooges.

********************

Here is Johnson’s recent election history.

2022 was unopposed.

2020 won 60% to 25%

2018 won 64% to 34%

2016(run off) won 65% to 35%

Johnson doesn’t have much to worry about in the 4th congressional district of Louisiana.

I truly find that hard to believe. Do you ever listen to her? Maybe I’m naive and an idiot, but each time I hear her speak, she makes perfectly good sense to me. She has convictions, and she stands by them, day in, day out. If I’m wrong, fine enlighten me. But otherwise, it’s really hard to dispel what she has to say, because what I hear is truth.

The real problem here (which the majority of FReepers, at least he really vocal ones, ignore) is that the average voter just wants the trains to run on time (so to speak).

The HEART of the matter amongst the Republican Party is CONTROL. Do the Dems/RINO’s CONTROL the house or do Republicans CONTROL the house?

Johnson proved that when the chips were down on a trillion more paper worthless dollars, he was with the Dems and RINO’s.

Like Old Yeller, he’s got to go.

I agree except that he betrayed his base he really did. But at the same time we need to keep the house for Trump’s sake if he wins. Or else Botox Pelosi is going to make trump’s turn a living hell once again! Unfortunately, I believe with all my heart Trump has his back against the wall. I believe Johnson screwed him, but he has no choice but to stand up for him because this election is so crucial …..we have to keep the house and maybe win the Senate. But right now the way I’m reading the tea leaves, the Republican base is pissed off and is willing to sacrifice both houses to punish the RNOS. So I don’t know what to say in this matter anymore. If Trump wins reelection it’s going to be an up hill battle with both houses control by the evil rats and the CIA FBI and the DOJ again. God help him because the DC swamp is 100x more corrupt and EVIL than four years ago. This time they won’t miss 🏹 !

I’ve tried explaining that here to some to no avail. The average “conservative” voter is nowhere near as conservative as the average FR’er. All one has to do to see this is go out and volunteer to help out in a political campaign. I am not talking about the general election though that’s a good experience too. I am talking in the primary where you will meet “majority-in-number” conservative voters.

It’s a very select group here and the reason for that is it self-selects for very conservative. That always has to be kept in mind.

That's what I've been telling everyone on this forum for a long time.

He could have just done nothing. Ukraine and FISA weren’t necessary.

Fight them even if if goes nowhere in the Senate. Border bill, stand alone Israel and Bill. Let the Dems vote it down or Biden veto.

Put THEM in the voters cross hairs. The public is sick of the invasion and the campus nonsense.

Make the Dems defend themselves in November.

Instead he caves and the base gets pissed.

Articles are so poorly written these days. After reading it twice l believe it says Johnson’s support from us has tanked (of course) but the rats love him now. So what have is a speaker who has joined the rats.

Pres Trump as presumptive nominee is the leader of the party.

He must be a Zeeper/foreign agent as well?

She denies the political realities no matter what the odds are. It is not a matter of what she believes, it’s about what in practical terms can the divided tiny majority GOP house really get passed. Without some compromises, very little. It’s not pretty; just reality.

Hardly, but the 45th President has to deal with the reality, that Republican politicians & voters are divided on continuing the funding for the Russian Ukraine War.

Trump wants a 2nd term and his policy positions run the gamut for Republican voters.

I get the plummeting Republican approval rating, but why would that result in an increase in approval for Democrats?

Have they gotten better?

She has not accomplished a single thing since being elected to Congress. No legislation, not even on committees, expelled from the Freedom Caucus for improper behavior, and tries to cash in on President Trump’s good name. She’s just another Lauren Boobert but much uglier. Women should not be political leaders in general, but she serves no purpose whatsoever.

Trump said to keep Johnson in and she is defying his wishes. This is only going to help the Democrats.
