Wealthy white Baton Rouge residents have won a decade-long court battle to split from poorer neighborhoods and form their own city with plans for better schools and less crime.
The Louisiana Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the new City of St George could move forward with incorporation, splitting off from the rest of Baton Rouge.
St George will have 86,000 residents across a 60-square-mile area in the southeast of East Baton Rouge Parish and will have its own Mayor and city council.

Next up the City of Buckhead, GA.
What about the universal human right to live next door to white people and their assets?
hehehe, separate but equal...
no wait...
I hope this trend continues.
And Atlanta too.
It matters. My example is the thin divide between Alameda and Oakland, which is separated only by bridges and a tunnel. Oakland’s side near the bridges and tunnel is a s***hole. Cross over and you have Dick and Jane communities less than a mile away. The same with the barrio part of Redwood City that borders Atherton, which is a super rich city in the Bay Area Peninsula.
Gaslighting headline. Why should taxpayers have to subsidize the slackers who like high crime and crappy schools?
If it’s racist “gentrification” for whites to move in, and racist “white flight” for whites to move out ... you might be a Democrat.
Firm?
Why?
Was it swampy?...................
I hope they build a 12 foot wall around it topped with broken glass and razor wire.
Walls around the wealthy ‘hoods will be next...with paid security.
I see no reason for black people to complain, finally they won’t have to put up with those creepy ass crackers causing trouble in da hood.
Time for vouchers in Louisiana so parents (I’m speaking of minority families) in Baton Rouge can pull out their kids from public schools and put them into schools where discipline is actually encouraged.
Maybe those in Oregon who want to be citizens of Idaho can get their wish.
from the article “splitting off from the rest of Baton Rouge”
from wikipedia “The city originated from a previously unincorporated area of East Baton Rouge Parish located southeast of the City of Baton Rouge” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._George,_Louisiana
Was Saint George part of Baton Rouge or was it unincorporated? Or was it both and I just don’t understand the way cities and parishes work in Louisiana?
Minority Families in Red Stick are whites. Google search says....
Black or African American: 52.53% White: 37.21% Two or more races: 4.04% Asian: 3.82%.
But anyway - blacks or whites should be allowed vouchers....
Correct, school vouchers are the one and the only solution to the problem. Not perfect, but still a huge improvement.
Speaking of demographics.....
St. George has a population of 86,316 within its proposed city limits. Whites make up more than 70% of that population, and African Americans make up 12%.
