China is waiting for the Russian Federation to collapse so it can seize a slice of land taken from it by Russia 200 years ago, it has been claimed.
Beijing has been a crucial supporter of Vladimir Putin since he invaded Ukraine and was essentially cut off from the Western world due to sanctions.
But Canadian journalist and author Diane Francis believes that China is also preparing to take back a slice of land in the far east of Russia.
Speaking to Times Radio, she explained how the war in Ukraine may have just Beijing-Moscow relations.
She said: "China was put in a terrible position. They had an Olympics they were proud of in 2022, and Putin went there and got Xi to sign a partnership agreement without telling him that three days later he was going to genocidally invade his neighboring country.
"He never told Xi. This was hugely embarrassing."
Ms Francis believes the Russian Federation will collapse after the war in Ukraine, allowing China to reclaim land previously under its jurisdiction.
She added: "China is very much involved in what happens to Russia after this is over. Many of us speculate that once the centre doesn't hold and they lose the war, whoever replaces Putin is not going to be able to hold on to 11 timezones of nation.
"It is just too big a country. At the far-east edge is Manchuria, which was stolen from China over 100 years ago. They want Manchuria back, and they are going to get it.
"The minute there is weakness, they will move. Not necessarily with troops but they will move politically to seize control of it."
This week, Putin announced plans to visit China in May. His announcement came while US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was in the country to meet President Xi.
According to a recent U.S. assessment, China has surged sales to Russia of machine tools, microelectronics, and other technology that Moscow in turn is using to produce missiles, tanks, aircraft and other weaponry for use in the conflict.
China has repeatedly said it isn’t providing Russia with arms or military assistance, although it has maintained robust economic connections with Moscow.
Russia invaded Manchuria in 1900 after the after the First Sino-Japanese War of 1894–1895.
Japan tried it in 1939, a guy named “Zhukov” stopped them.
Canadian journalist and author, well that’s definite then.
As I alluded to, the 1939 Battle Of Khalkhin Gol, is probably one of the most significant battles of WWII that few know about, yet it wound up changing the entire course of the war. From that point on, Japan wanted nothing to do with fighting the Soviet Union, and they were in big trouble, until the Fall of France and The Netherlands, gave them an opening to take those colonies. That's why they joined the Axis in the first place, to curry favor with the Germans. At the time, the Soviet Union wasn't in the war. While Japan originally was upset with Hitler over the Non-Aggression Pact with Stalin, that attitude changed, and they shifted to considering the US as their biggest enemy.
This is a much bigger threat to world peace than anything else currently happening. We could easily get dragged into a war if China invades Russia. We certainly are not going to let China simply seize Russias natural resources. They control 20% of the world’s resources.
Yeah sure, China is about to invade Russia. The neocons are dreaming of that, but two big problems. One, Russia is still the biggest Nuclear power on earth. Two, the NATO/DC/London adventure in Ukraine has driven Russia and China into all kinds of economic cooperation.
There’s no reason to try to invade when Russia will happily sell them all the raw materials the want, and the Russians will happily buy all the Chinese products they can sell, and they both realize they have a common foe among the EU/Brits/DC.
But nice fantasy.
so does Russia have a long memory. remember friends, Hitler turned on Russia and it didn’t turn out well for germany. china will gain ground at first. after that...china will be decimated by Russia.
“I’m not beaten yet, I still have armies in The Ukraine!”
Mao didn’t plan anything like that. It should be described as hiding out and waiting.
Never forget that one thing driving China’s motives is their fascination with what they call the century of humiliation. Their leaders will do just about anything to get back land they lost during that century (as well as other things, like get even with the west for the 1st and 2nd Opium Wars).
More Deep State fantasies.
Mongols vs. Chinese
We’ve seen this played out before.
“China has a long memory.”
Diane Francis has an even longer imagination.
This maybe too simple of an concept, but China is like a narcotic to Russia, Russia needs the industrial power of China to keep the weapons flowing in order to sustain itself in the war with Ukraine.
So long as China is solidly behind Russia, Russia will never run out of weapons, combined with their own industrial output, Russia has all they need to keep fighting indefinitely.
China is also like a loan shark, they keep aiding Russia in this war but at some point, in the future, all that aid will get called in and that means China will start making demands of Russia for return of land from generations ago.
“China is about China and they take a very long view”
I heard this, but cannot remember who in the Chinese government answered the question this way.
QUESTION: “Was the French Revolution worth it?”
ANSWER: “It’s too early to tell”.
Bottom line: If China goes after Siberia, perhaps our great grandkids will have to deal with it, in their old age, but certainly not us.
And the Chinese have been bribing the federal bureaucrats right-and-left for at least a couple decades to make certain that didn’t happen, IMO. Not to mention their influencing the media and academia. All with our dollars for cheap products.
There goes that 'G' word again, which is always a sure sign of utter bias.
This story is based entirely upon the beliefs of one person who uttered it out loud.
Thee is, in other words, nothing to this story at all.
It's worthless garbage, perhaps even propaganda, designed to supplant the notion that Russia, like Trump, is facing elimination once again.
Under ordinary circumstances, Russia could count on strong US support in resisting China. With the Russian attack on Ukraine though, that becomes problematic.
I could see China supporting Russia in Ukraine, for the purpose of weakening both China and the US.
When that is accomplished, they can seize both Taiwan and Manchuria.
There has not been a war between Russia and China despite sharing a border for over 350 years. How many other countries can claim that?
