China is playing a waiting game. They don’t want massive losses trying to take back Taiwan. That would be a shame to them. They will continue to use subterfuge to whittle away any resistance.
They can try to invade Taiwan any time. But all hell would break loose and even the Chicom grip on power would be at risk.
Perhaps it just slipped his mind,
similar to Erdogan jumping in the middle east.
After all US tech is being overwhelmed in Russia according to a recent headline and the Houthis are handing us our rear end according to popular opinion-
China could annex Taiwan while we’re at a movie!!!
and I might sprout a third arm.
Invasion is more likely if Trump wins.
I heard some ex cia guy recently say about the coming election “Trump would be bad for the USA, but Biden would be bad for the World”
China is afraid that Biden will say “Don’t”. Scary business there.
China’s in no rush.
America is destroying itself and eventually won’t be a concern when they decide to take Taiwan.
China had better not wait past the results of the November elections and the new Inauguration Day later.
Their friend Zhao Bai-Denn might not be on the stage by then.
China will take Taiwan the same way they took Macau and Hong Kong.
China isn’t invading Taiwan. They lack the sea lift capability. Period.
This is a manufactured “crisis.”
I really do not see how an invasion of Taiwan helps anyone. Thousands will be killed in a war and let’s say China does win, what happens next? What about the retaliation factor? Also, how can this happen without satellites not seeing an invasion going down in real time? There will have to be hundreds of aircraft, ships, thousands of troops all brought together in secret.
I believe my solution resolves this. Sell two fully loaded Ohio Class subs to Taiwan, with American sailors embedded on the subs to train the Taiwan navy. Taiwan can issue a simple statement. “We are now a nuclear power and if China invades the sovereign nation of Taiwan, we will be forced to counter with everything available to us.”
Would definitely give China pause.
China cannot take Taiwan without US permission. Simply blockading oil shipments through the the Straits of Malacca would starve China.
With the navies of 27 nations patrolling the East and South China Seas, China can’t take Taiwan
They realize that Trump’s campaign is plugging up the holes of Democrat/communist voter fraud and are beginning to fear his return.
In short - they waited too long and they know it.
The ease with which Israel and the US dispatched 300 drones and missiles was a wakeup call to the ChiComs, who were counting on drone swarms to take out the 7th Fleet. Their fleet “outnumbers” us mainly in small destroyers or other quasi-coastal ships. Their big navy would go down in minutes.
The U.S. now has drone diesel subs whose job it is to destroy surface craft. If our Trident stealth tech is as good on these as it is on the OH class, we could park one in their harbor and they wouldn’t know it.
Bottom line, before the ChiCom fleet could get Taiwan pacified-—and it would lose a ton of men and equipment doing so-—it would be open season by the 7th.
I expect it will happen soon without a shot. Some sort of deal made in private and then announced.
The CCP are authoritarian and often quite brutal, but they don't appear to have the rule-or-ruin mentality common in the West these days.
China is having so many problems on so many fronts, they don’t have time to play war right now.
If I were China I would look at what is happening in Ukraine. They might just be underestimating Taiwan’s ability to defend themselves just like Russia. They can also look at the boycotts which would be devastating to China since they do not produce much in the way of raw materials. Also, the determination of the rest of the world to defend those being attacked by major powers. Of course if Ukraine looses that might be off.
It is of no real national interest for mainland China to invade and take over Taiwan. It is 100% simply a political interest on the part of the CCP.
It is the CCP, the dictatorship in mainland China, that was, is, and remains the reason Taiwan is fiercely indedent. Were mainlaind China a true multiparty democracy without the dictatorship of the CCP, the folks on Taiwan and the mainland would have long ago decided a mutual peaceful agreement ending the fracture from the civil war. But asking the democratic people of Taiwan to submit to the dictatorship of the CCP would never have been part of that.
China will never invade ... the social cost is not worth it and may cause the downfall of the CCP.
