Animal rights nonprofit group PETA has strongly condemned Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) after she recently shared a story about her killing her 14-month-old dog, “Cricket,” for his lousy hunting skills.
The story is published in her book No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward and was intended to show that when it came to politics or personal life, she wasn’t afraid of getting “messy and ugly.” It instead garnered sharp criticism from animal lovers everywhere.
“Most Americans love their dogs, and we suspect that they will consider Gov. Noem a psychotic loony for letting this rambunctious puppy loose on chickens and then punishing her by deciding to personally blow her brains out rather than attempting to train her or find a more responsible guardian who would provide her with a proper home,” PETA Senior Director Colleen O’Brien said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “Gov. Noem obviously fails to understand the vital political concepts of education, cooperation, compromise, and compassion.
Noem decided to shoot Cricket after the dog killed a local family’s chickens after a pheasant hunting trip and then bit her when she tried to intervene. Noem said she “hated that dog” and deemed it “less than worthless” for being unable to hunt properly.
After taking the dog to a gravel pit and shooting it, she also shot a goat she owned, which she said stunk and was “nasty and mean.”
“She could have given the Dog away.”
From a PR point of view maybe.
But she did the right thing in removing a problem.
She just didn’t want to be the VP nomenee.
farm life...
Construction workers witnessed it. Story would have come out.
Wow, disturbing is an understatement. I suspect she’s just ended her career.
And yet, abortion is ok.
PETA is just another subsidiary of the DNC.
Wow. Quite the story. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, and it sounds like you had no choice. Dogs are STILL animals, no matter how cuddly/smart etc. I remember a vet calling in to Rush one day when the subject was on vicious dogs, and she said the one dog she ALWAYS put a muzzle on when they came in was Chihuahuas! She was always getting bit by them. Said if they grew bigger than they are they’d be the most vicious dog out there. I believe her. I can’t stand them. I’ve been tempted to drop kick the little effers myself on a few occasions.

She’s done.
She could have given the Dog away.

She could have kept her pie hole shut. Plenty of unpleasant/gross things may occur on a ranch or farm. No reason to share them out in your campaign book.
“It was a justified shoot.”
Yes but going public about it probably wasn’t a smart move.
How strange. People here are heading towards their fainting couches over putting down a dangerous god.
Biden’s dog routinely bit people. Pit bulls are vicious and unpredictable. Thinking people know they should be put away.
But Cricket should be placed for adoption? Where he can bite again.
Yes. But as has been said.... She is just getting out in front of the story.
This’ll blow over when the next news cycle begins.
I had a friend who worked at the local dog pound for a while. He went there because he loved animals. While there about the only thing he did was take dogs in and immediately take them in the back and euthanize them because the facility was so overcrowded. His girlfriend worked there too because she loved animals. She eventually committed suicide by jumping off a bluff.
Taking your dog to the pound is the same as killing it 99% of the time.
But you think she should have let somebody else kill it.
I think a lot of the controversy about this is the difference between city people and country people. Dogs are dogs, not people. I have a German Shepherd. She is a great dog and is extremely well taken care of. If she were to ever bite or seriously threaten a person she would not live out the day. That’s just the way it is. And that’s the way Noem thinks. You have a bad dog, killing livestock and acting aggressive, you put it down. You can’t tolerate it, and you can’t put your problem onto someone else.
“She could have kept her pie hole shut. Plenty of unpleasant/gross things may occur on a ranch or farm. No reason to share them out in your campaign book.”
I agree.
Somtimes we just can’t, but it’s best if an adult can do the hard things.
Like spell.
Why did she even write this in her book, its one thing of some DNC research came out with this info but she wrote it herself..WHY, what did she think she had to gain by saying this..instead she could have dropped the dog off at a kennel for re homing
EXACTLY by point, she had ZERO reason to put this in her book, HER BOOK, not some random rumor, but she wrote it herself
In the west, a man forks his own. broncs.
