In a stunning interview Sunday morning on CNN, Rep. Tony Gonzales, a Republican congressman from Texas, accused fellow Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of having sex with underaged girls.
"It's my absolute honor to be in Congress, but I serve with some real scumbags," he said. "Look, Matt Gaetz, he paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties."
This comes just a few weeks after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy said something similar at an event at Georgetown Univeristy.
"I'll give you the truth why I'm not speaker," McCarthy said. "It's because one person, a member of Congress, wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old."
The Justice Department began its investigation into Gaetz in 2020 after his former friend Joel Greenberg told investigators that Gaetz paid a 17-year-old for sex and to travel across state lines with him.
Greenberg, who was also under investigation, pleaded guilty in 2021 to six federal charges, including sex trafficking of a minor.
The Justice Department ended up declining to bring charges against Gaetz due to credibility issues with witnesses.
But Gaetz was recently subpoenaed by the then-underage woman he was accused of having sex with.
His deposition in the case is currently scheduled for June.

Agreed. Gaetz is in a safe GOP district (FL panhandle). His replacement would be a conservative Republican. It seems obvious he ousted McCarthy because McCarthy wouldn’t run interference for him with the Ethics Committee. For all the Gaetz fan club members here, just remember when the time came to pick a candidate in the 2016 nominating contest , Gaetz got behind that arch conservative - Jeb Bush!

If you read Sharyl Atkisson’s story (’Stonewalled’) about all the weird things that happened to her when she was electronically surveiled when digging deep into the Obama administration, this definitely could/would happen. She had ‘friends’ (experts with certain high level experience) who analyzed her computer & found a classified document buried deep - it had been planted to be used against her if/when the Obama regime decided to get rid of her.

The Republicans gave Joe everything every step of the way and got nothing in return.
McCarthy gave up the debt ceiling (twice) for absolutely nothing.
He had agreed to trillion dollar deal after trillion dollar deal, all packed with woke spending.

In the future, candidates for Congress, and Representatives, may eschew the use of computers, to insure they have no computer on which evidence could be planted.
Trump will be fighting congress no matter which party is in power. Remember the daily threats that he better not fire Sessions? That was under a Repuke house and Senate. The Repukes and the Rats are the same. They just use different language to talk to their respective constituents (who are obviously not thr brightest in general).

We have an age of majority -18. That’s based on centuries of experience and biological information. If we want to change it we can undertake that. Make the case why 17 year olds can sign contracts, get married without parental permission, get drafted, operate heavy machinery, avoid permission slips for high risk activities, get charged as adults…

I also doubt Gaetz is guilty.
