Turley: Everything About Trump Hush Money Case Is ‘Legally Absurd’
Conservative Brief ^ | 15 April 2024 | Martin Walsh

Fox News legal analyst and George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley believes that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is wading into uncharted territory.

During an interview on Fox News, Turley spoke about jury selection for Bragg’s case beginning Monday, which involves allegations of a “hush money” scheme and cover-up.

Turley called Bragg’s case against Trump “legally absurd.”

The law is irrelevant. The facts are irrelevant.

This is a show trial presided over by a far-left democrat hack of a judge. The jury will consist entirely of far-left democrats who have already decided that Trump is guilty without even knowing what he has been charged with.

It will be a show trial to rival any that were held in the Soviet Union or East Germany back before the fall of the Iron Curtain.

All of these are the equivalent of a truck driver being pulled over and the book thrown at him for doing 66 in a 65 mph zone.

Let me give you another example. I was in Korea at the Pusan airport going to pick up a colleague. As I drove in a driver thought I was going through the airport and turned his car into me and took out the right side of my car. Skid marks proved his movement. The guy spoke broken English. He was laying blame on me for the accident. He stated, "Your fault." I replied with a firm question of; "My fault?? NO!" The Korean then told the Policeman "He said my fault." Because I said the words "my fault?" it meant I was guilty because I admitted it was my fault in his logic.

This is a corrupt DA, a corrupt Judge and we are about to get a Democrat corrupt jury in a corrupt city in a corrupt state in a corrupt country! There is no way President Trump gets a fair trial in that city.

Did Bragg ever enumerate this supposed other crime at all, in subsequent filings?

This case is going to play out exactly like all the old western "Dodge City" stories of the cowhand accused of killing the girl and the townspeople riled up into a fury to hang the poor guy, all while the jealous lawyer who really did it stays quiet.

President Trump has a Hanging Judge behind the bench, a prosecutor making up the law to get Trump convicted, and mob on the brink of rage in the citizens of New York City. What I fear the most is the pressure on the jury to convict, just like in the movies.

Can you imagine being the lone juror on the Trump case who believes that President Trump is innocent but is afraid that the judge or the clerk or the prosecutor will leak your name to the mob outside if you refuse to convict?

If I were in those shoes, I'd be afraid that the townfolk would come for me, burn down my house, kill my horse, and try to hang me instead. I'll bet a few of the other jurors will threaten any holdouts who might try to fairly hear the case.

Its also calculated to plant ideas in black voter’s heads because they may be more likely to actually listen to and agree with a black prosecutor’s argument simply because racism: the person talking is the same race as the listener

Did Bragg ever enumerate this supposed other crime at all, in subsequent filings?

The Grand Jury indictment only says "with intent to defraud and intent to commit another crime and aid and conceal the commission thereof" without specifying what that other crime was.

The Bragg filing says "From August 2015 to December 2017, the Defendant orchestrated a scheme with others to influence the 2016 presidential election by identifying and purchasing negative information about him to suppress its publication and benefit the Defendant’s electoral prospects. In order to execute the unlawful scheme, the participants violated election laws and made and caused false entries in the business records of various entities in New York. The participants also took steps that mischaracterized, for tax purposes, the true nature of the payments made in furtherance of the scheme. "

No enumeration of which campaign laws were violated, and the FEC has looked at these transactions and said no laws were violated.

I'll be honest and say that since I'm not a lawyer, I have not researched any subsequent filings by Bragg in support of what other specific statute crime was being furthered by the falsified business records, but if he had made such a concrete assertion of a specific statute, I'm sure I would have heard about it from my usual Twitter and Podcast sources.

Because I said the words "my fault?" it meant I was guilty because I admitted it was my fault in his logic.

Like that scene from My Cousin Vinnie where the young Billy Gambini was being questioned by the sheriff and the sheriff said 'you shot the clerk.' Billy replied in a typical New York questioning intonation: "I shot the clerk?"

Later at trial, the sheriff is testifying and he pulls out his interview notes, and in a statement-of-fact monotone reads "the suspect replied 'I shot the clerk.'"

LOL, I came up with the same thing!

Here's the two scenes cut back-to-back, total playing time 53 seconds:

All of these are the equivalent of a truck driver being pulled over and the book thrown at him for doing 66 in a 65 mph zone. We all know why cops write such tickets.

Once, in Charleston, SC, I was given a ticket for a 56 in a 55.

“And with so many foreign born judges rising higher and higher, we will soon get a Supreme Court Judge who is a foreign immigrant. There is no natural born requirement for that.”

Twenty-five to thirty-three percent of Americans identify as “evangelical Christians”, but evangelical Christians are systematically and systemically discriminated against in our society (and the whole world).

Not one of the Supreme Court justices is an evangelical Christian. We have 6 Catholics, 1 Jew, 1 Episcopalian (Catholic without the Pope), and 1 nondenominational Protestant (Ketanji Brown Jackson).

There are very few evangelical Christians in the executive, legislative, or judicial branches of the federal or state governments when compared to the percentage of citizens who identify as such. Also, very few immigrants, legal or otherwise, are evangelical Christians.
