By forming the Supreme Court majority that would finally reverse Roe v. Wade and restore the right of the people and their elected representatives to protect unborn children and their mothers in the law, President Trump can truly be called the most consequential pro-life president in history.

Since the 2022 midterms, however, a narrative has taken hold that the life issue costs Republicans elections and is better left to the states, anyway – a narrative that threatens this great accomplishment. With policy platforms suddenly having very real consequences, many candidates became fearful, listened to consultants and opted for the "ostrich strategy" of burying their heads in the sand. These candidates fared badly.

Now, in the midst of the 2024 campaign, President Trump's long-awaited announcement of his stance tragically pigeonholes abortion as a matter of states’ rights. It has met with disappointment from the pro-life community and the millions of Americans who are looking for a national leader who can build consensus and stand up to the pro-abortion extremism of Joe Biden and congressional Democrats.
It would be a disaster to cede a winnable fight to Biden and the radically pro-abortion Democrats, who unapologetically push their extreme agenda on every American. We can’t quit working to defeat them in the battleground states that will decide control of the White House and Congress, and the SBA Pro-Life America team remains focused on reaching 10 million voters – four million at their doors. As always, the key to changing hearts, minds and votes is contrast with the Democrat Party position of abortion any time for any reason.
...
... President Trump and the GOP should embrace and fight for this consensus – not abandon the fight nationally. Embracing this position is both smart policy and smart politics.

It is okay to say we are against abortion, want to protect life, we need to have a national discussion to find a middle ground, an nationally acceptable solution, which is what Trump promised several weeks ago.
The Constitution does not allow for a national abortion law, as abortion is not a federal power.
now that it is a state issue, i see 90% of gop turning pro-choice because they want to win, and we want trump to win so, i guess one state at a time.
I was in the room with the National Right To Life leadership in 1990 my idealism faced the reality of their political mindset.
They wanted to help Mainstream Politicians win elections not pass strong Pro-Life legislation.
We have the middle ground for the moment. Abortion is back to the States. The election must happen first.
If you are not careful you will get the “leader” Joe Biden and 4 more leftist SCOTUS appointments to re-instate Roe v Wade.
This is what will happen and I cannot understand why some of you want to go backward on this.
Fake issue that they are pushing over never-Trumperism. Overturning Roe v. Wade was about returning the decision to the states, not to create a national abortion ban which was never even mentioned until last year and was never even an issue back in 2015.
I am convinced the Dobbs Supreme Court decision giving abortion back to the states was a good thing a Live and Let Live decision in line with the Tenth Amendment of the US Constitution.
The Left trashed it as extreme which was garbage but Conservatives don’t care very much about Human Life IMHO can’t make a good argument against the Left as well.
Margie, shut up.

I think the abortion is being used by non-conservatives to keep conservatives from winning, because it allows them to be painted as extremists. I think that is why they were allowed to have that overturned, because it worked out very well for Democrats in 2022.
Eh?
The left gets their way by cheating. The RINOs aid and abet that, since they are part of the left.
Trump is correct. The Dobbs decision clearly says that the abortion issue belongs to the states, not the federal government.
Marxist Mole Democrats and Republican Enablers.
Abortion rights advocates are so used to be I. The losing position. Going over to DC 3rd cold snowy rainy week in January, preaching to the choir, clergy deserting them, GOP politicians baiting and switching on them they are in that position because they don’t know how to win.
They’re run by women who want to be nice. They’ve shut down strong men. Tge men are stymied
They want God to fix it. They won’t discern when God is fixing it. They want God to fix it the way they have it pictured.
They want the pro abortion people to acquiesce. They want mass conversions, apologies, testimonies. They expect this.
They don’t picture a fight they won’t picture winning the fight.
They want the leader to come in to a presidential campaign like a TV preacher and convert all the pro aborts then win the presidency
They can’t stand it when Trump is mean to these people they want him to be kind and convert them
They won’t like any of this winning until joy Behar AND Whoopie proclaim conversion
It’s tiresome And ignorant.
Making abortion illegal has been the goal for as long as I can remember.

Why not use the term “incineration” to describe abortion, drawing a parallel to the fate of unborn children who are awaiting birth? I am here to learn.
For years we in the prolife movement fought to over turn Roe, knowing full well that meant the issue would be returned to the several states. For much of that time, prolife was a political asset meaning generally a plus five percent margin in elections. We had open discussions about things like the hard cases, and supporting crisis’ pregnancy centers, and appealing to the common humanity of those who were not heavily invested in the issue but who voted nevertheless.
We always knew the abortionists would be tenacious, and the battle would have to be fought again state by state. What we didn’t know was that absolutists would immediately follow up our victory by demanding a total ban nationwide,
thereby alienating the moderate and relatively uncommitted voters who were our margin of victory.
Now because of the intense and divisive purist drive, Ohio, a red state has a constitutional amendment installing an extreme unfettered right to abortion.
Other states have followed or will soon enough.
Politics has been called the art of the possible. Seeking a “consensus” on outlawing abortion is the seeking of the impossible. Trump’s position is the only constitutionally defensible one which also has a chance at least to dissipate some of the heat. If you want to follow Lindsay Graham and demand a
“national ban,” fine, but be ready to welcome Biden, or whatever other democrat, into the White House next January, and total defeat for the unborn..
Abortion should be illegal.
Why do people try to justify this brutal murderous deed with straw men?
You are wrong. I was active on NRTL in the 1990s, sat with John Wilke, and Wanda Franz and the rest. I spoke at their national convention. They understood reality. You were lost a dream world, just like this woman babbling about “building a consensus” in the US when the enemy would just as soon kill you and me as talk to us.
