Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “America Reports” that people who do not want electric cars were like those who wanted “landline phones forever.”
Buttigieg said, “Let’s be clear consumers have wanted and purchased more EVs every single year than the year before. Tesla is facing more competition as GM and Ford and Stellantis and other competitive players make sure they get a piece of the EV market. Let’s be clear, the automotive sector is moving toward EVs and we can’t pretend otherwise. Sometimes, when these debates happen, I feel like it’s the early 2000s and I’m talking to some people who think that we can just have landline phones forever.”
He added, “The reality is the automotive sector is moving towards EVs and the U.S. can fall behind to China or we can claim the lead. President Biden wants to make sure those EVs are made in America especially again as more Americans choose EVs every single year then the year before. We have to make sure those are made on American soil in places like northern Indiana where I grew up, places like Michigan where I live right now. During the Trump administration China was really able to build an advantage in the EV market and Obviously not because they’re big environmentalists over in China, just because that’s the economically smart play. We’ve been working to make sure that advantage comes back on American soil.”

When the cell towers are compromised the land lines still work. Smart people don’t put their eggs into one basket.
Petey ButtBoy’s “dark and remote location” is screaming for mercy from his ‘husband’, or is it ‘wife’... who’s the ‘pitcher’ and who’s the ‘catcher’? Never could figure that stuff out... Nevermind, I don’t want to know.
The coprophage bootyjuggs has dung for brains.
Imagine being stuck in a traffic jam in a snow storm with your heater, all fans, your front & rear defrosters, your wipers, your headlights & running lights all running.
When you run out of charge, and you probably will, you won’t be able to carry it back to your EV in a 5-gallon can.
Exactly—we have a beat up old land-line dial phone on the wall in our garage.
It has worked during every power outage to date—often when cell towers were out of action.
Idiot. The government has never ordered me to use a cell phone.
Ya , what’s his answer this that ,LOL
I had my first LAND LINE in 1958.
I STILL HAVE ONLY A LAND LINE.
I HAVE A FAX MACHINE
I also do not need cell phone costs-—CONSTANT upgrades—and dicey service.
Have a CB in my truck if I need communication on the road.
Have had truck since April 1986.
Only used CB 4 times.
I like my landline! It’s reliable!
Same with my gas powered car.
Hands off!
Current grid system throughout the US....is not capable of handling this ‘emergency’. Once they realize this...there will have to be hundreds of billions spent to resolve their mess.
OTOH, EVs really are the future if we're willing to wait for it to develop normally. Meanwhile the Dems are pushing electric everything while deliberately sabotaging the power grid.
By the way, when did the Department of Transportation change from being in charge of building and maintaining roads and mass transit to being the dictators for all things transportation?
Or wanting heterosexual sex.
True that. In all seriousness, one of the main reasons my wife and I have both an EV car and a gas pickup is so that our transportation eggs aren't all in one car type basket.
If the Dims mess up our access to gasoline -- we have an EV. If the Dims mess up the grid -- we have the gas pickup. If the Dims mess up both, we have the EV for local driving (because of home solar producing most of our power, including what we use to charge the EV).
Supporting electric cars is like believing that electricity comes from sockets in the wall instead of power plants.
Me too! I love my cordless landline phone. I even have an old answering machine that still works.
Land lines also work in places where the cell tower is blocked by a hill. Like at my house. Where I can only use my cell phones on WIFI. Unless, I want to stand on my roof. I can get 1-2 bars IF I stand on the roof of my house. On the ground floor none.
What? Me worry?
Mine worked, too.
He is truly stupid. Dimmer than a brown dwarf.
go back to breast feeding
Yes, of course, I am talking about battery backed up traditional copper landlines.
“What a stupid comparison.”
Consider the source. Landline phones were better and more dependable. Hence, the idiot left’s insistence on nudging the masses away from them.
At least my landline phone didn’t have “outtages” if or when the electric power was out. But these cretins don’t want us having the ability to communicate OR to travel without electricity... which they will give and withhold at their pleasure as their short-hairs control over us all.
I can’t stop thinking about how there were reports of the power (and water) being “cut” at Lahaina so the town could burn. Could the PTBs/people in control really be that evil? Yeah....
and then some.
