California’s $20 fast food minimum wage balloons menu prices — with some chains increasing costs by nearly $2

You’ll be dropping a lot of dollar on that Whopper.

Menu prices at fast food chains across California have increased, as a new law went into effect requiring them to pay a $20-an-hour minimum wage to workers from Monday.

The Post checked menus at several restaurants in the Los Angeles area to see if the costs are already being passed onto consumers — with mixed results.

The biggest leap on was at a Burger King, where a Texas Double Whopper meal cost $15.09 on March 29, but surged to $16.89 on April 1, a price whopping increase of $1.80 for the same meal.

Most other items increased anywhere from 25 cents to a dollar. Burger King did not respond to a request for comment.

“All the McD’s in my area have already replaced front counter personal with computer kiosks, so if you have cash you can’t eat there.”

McD franchise agreements require at least two POS terminals at the counter if the store has a dining room. Neither register has to be staffed continuously. Locally, that’s just what we’ve got. If you want to do a transaction at the counter you walk up there and wait for a few seconds or a couple minutes at worst for a team member to come over and assist you. But they do come and they do accept cash.

I am reminded of the old Dick van Dyke movie Divorce: American Style(1967) in which he goes into a McDonalds, places an order an is brought “A double meat cheeseburger, fries and a coke. that will be 57 cents please.”

Robots & AI are going to eliminate all low wage workers within the next 3 years.

No more high priced employees? I bet their prices of their fast food will plummet.

And if ya believe that, you'll believe anything.

They'll never reverse it because Dems never admit that they were wrong.

You are completely correct, but Dems are always fighting the battle of their gigantic egos versus their insatiable greed. No one knows which side will win, but we do know all of the rest of us will lose.

Not me. I already quit buying 'fast food' due to the ridiculous prices. (and low quality)

And my state has 'only' a $12.00 an hour minimum wage.

"...they will try to pass a law preventing businesses from raising prices!..."

"Directive 10-289" is coming soon.

A lot of folks are going to learn that in the real world the minimum wage is ZERO.

Well yeah, but the simpletons in the Legislature get to feel very good about helping “the little guy.”

Directive 10-289 ends economic and personal freedom in the United States. The government now controls every aspect of an individual’s economic life; it is a dictatorship. The best minds, including Dagny’s, can’t tolerate this change and choose to retreat.

I have the impression that families will once again gather in the patio of the house to prepare those homemade hamburgers from the 60s.... unforgettable, I don't know why we abandoned them

Good points but I wonder if things are different now.
As: when I was young the old people around were ones who once were rebellious and Dem but then matured and got more wisdom.
Today’s old men with their long gray hair in manbuns once were young pot smoking hippies against the war and now are
old legalized pot smoking leftover hippies against America and against Trump.

Old saying:
If You Are Not a Liberal When You Are Young, You
Have No Heart, and If You Are Not a Conservative
When Old, You Have No Brain’

My go-to meal at Burger King is:

2 Cheeseburgers w/grilled onions
2 French Fries
1 Coke, Large, No ice...

Cost

$14.22 > On April 5th, 2022
$16.81 > On April 2nd, 2024

That’s an 18.2138% increase in just short of two years.

Update. Deep State really, really doesn't like competition...
