President Joe Biden said the government would pay the “entire cost” of rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, after a cargo ship hit the bridge after losing power early Tuesday morning.
“It’s my intention that we will pay for the entire cost of reconstructing that bridge. I expect the Congress to support my effort,” Biden said in a White House press conference. “It’s gonna take some time. And the people of Baltimore can count on us, though, to stick with that every step of the way until the port is reopened and the bridge is rebuilt. We’re not leaving until this job is done.”

Joe Biden apparently wants to exercise the powers of all three branches of government.
Biden doesn’t understand that Maryland is a solid blue state and doesn’t need his bribe money.
Nonsense. The container ship’s insurance companies will pay a great deal of money.
I drove on 95 near Boston during rush hour recently. It’s worse, arguably, than Manhattan inbound traffic. And that’s an improvement?
My hopes are very low for the people of Baltimore.
The shipping line and the insurance company should pay all of it as the situation appears at the moment.
If Terrorism is proven, then maybe not.
“These people are heroes,” Gov. Wes Moore said in a morning news conference. “They saved lives last night.” Moore added that there was no evidence that the collision was a terrorist attack.Remember in the news recently Angela Chao, Sen. Mitch McConnell’s billionaire sister-in-law, died in her Tesla as it slowly sank in a pond on a remote Texas ranch.
The Singapore-flagged cargo ship named Dali had been traveling about 8 knots (roughly 9 mph).
It looks to me like it might have been Commie industrial terrorism aimed at our Democrat Global Elites.
The project was financed by a $220 million bond issue alongside the twinning of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in October 1968.
Contractors took bearings of the outer harbour bottom and ship channel in the spring of 1969.[citation needed]
Bids for constructing the proposed Outer Harbor Tunnel were opened in July 1970, but price proposals were substantially higher than the engineering estimates.
Officials drafted alternative plans, including a four-lane bridge, which the General Assembly approved in April 1971.
At an estimated cost of $110 million, the bridge would have more traffic lanes and lower operating and maintenance costs than a tunnel.

Yep, Alfred E. Neuman’s cousin Pete was at the podium today.
Big spender with other people’s money. What a tool this guy is, and has always been.
Do you have any idea of what is involved in a project of this size and scope.
Do you have a clue of what trades are involved and the skill sets involve?
Do you know the process of design and fabrication for a major bridge, and then the bidding, detailing and fabrication of the steel?
And do you know what is involved in constructing the new bridge foundation in open water in that bay?
I do.
I’m so old that I can remember when we had three branches of government, which would include the peoples representatives in the Congress. Back in those olden times, the Congress would appropriate money to be spent, not the president.
That bridge crumpled like it was tied together with paper clips. The whole thing slammed into the water in 1 second. Something about that design looked horrendous.
Also, though few people believe it when I say so, the drivers in NYC are much more polite than the ones up in Boston.
Well said. This is flagrant use of government money for pay offs and favoured areas.
Yes.
“We” will foot the bill with “our” money. Hopefully brought in saddlebags on a unicorn floating here on a magic carpet.
Or, gouged out of working taxpayers’ life savings as they and their children and grandchildren face enormous debt.
Biden: Just charge it.

Your post jogged my memory.
Forgot the name of that Skyway Bridge. When I first visited I was told some people continued to be too afraid to drive on the replacement as they saw the half gone remainder of the crashed bridge. They would have a relative (like me) drive as they closed their eyes.
I found the NYC metro area drivers use their turn signals even if they drive like Mario Andretti. I love driving in Manhattan - it’s better than the bumper cars.
In contrast, I could strangle anyone who pulls into traffic to make a left-hand turn, which seems to happen EVERY TIME I drive around Boston on business.
Don’t get me started on rotaries. Though jug handles in NJ are equally maddening.
However, I’m sure I get cursed out for my Philadelphian-like “I’m at a traffic light turning left, so I’m gonna floor it as soon as I get the green” driving.
Will cost 3X what steel might cost.
Chao’s ranch is only a few miles from where I live. That incident is “a little” plausible.
This incident, to me, at this time, given the information we know, is not. This ship is on the go year after year tens of thousands of miles around the globe.
But, in Baltimore, it loses power a few minutes and makes a beeline for the bridge after allegedly losing power. Yeah, 2 non English speaking crew members teamed up. One on the upper bow deck and one in the Electric Controls Control Room. The guy on the upper deck texts “now”! The guy below throws the main power switch. 2 minutes later, with no steering, the boat hits the bridge. The CCP pays both moms and dads a million each in cash back home. Done deal.
Too many coincidences given what’s going on in the country. Naturally, the Democrats and their media cousins will cover up and deny their fellow commies actions on the Dali this morning.
