The state of Michigan is reportedly pushing a program offering citizens $500 a month to take in migrants.
The program, called the Newcomer Rental Subsidy, is set to provide shelter outside state shelters for “refugees.” The assistance would be available to homeowners for up to a year, according to MLive.com.
According to the state, those eligible include, refugees, asylees, special immigration visa holders, victims of human trafficking, Cuban and Haitian entrants, Afghan nationals, and Ukrainian humanitarian parolees.

Just last week I joked with some empty nesters (Libs) with a 5 bedroom house. “Plenty of room for immigrants”. The reply was “that’s ridicules” to which I always answer, “It will be even more ridicules when it happens”.
Uh, we already are.
That’s the opening offer. As no one jumps at that it will begin to rise. Though I think it will have to rise much higher, before they have a chance of getting any takers.

I’m a landlord. As each property goes empty, I’m jumping the rent and requiring a two-month cash deposit. Since doing this I’ve had nothing but good renters. It’s the people who don’t have the money for that deposit who ended up screwing me horribly. Sounds evil? I’m so tired of spending time and effort to kick out non-payers. The damage they leave is ALWAYS horrible.
This $500 thing, oh, my, God! Anyone would be stupid to do this.
BTW, the chance of someone who is living off the government doing damage to your property is over 90%.

In our area, one could get two or three times that renting a room and kitchen privileges to a student.

500.00 a month give me a damn break, make it $5000.00 a month and then we can think about it!!

Lessee, my income’s not keeping up with inflation, and I feel like I’m running out of money. So, should I accept that 500 to keep the wolf from the door?
