Moscow concert hall attack: Why is ISIL targeting Russia?
Al-Jazeera ^ | March 23, 2024 | Kevin Doyle

Posted on 03/23/2024 7:29:01 PM PDT by canuck_conservative

ISIL’s Afghan branch – also known as the Islamic State in Khorasan Province, ISKP (ISIS-K) – has claimed responsibility for the attack...

“Russian foreign policy has been one big red flag for ISIS [ISIL],” Michael Kugelman, director of the South Asia Institute at the Washington-based Wilson Center told Al Jazeera. “The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Russian actions in Chechnya, Moscow’s close relationships with the Syrian and Iranian governments, and especially the military campaigns that Russia has waged against ISIS fighters in Syria and — through Wagner Group mercenaries – in parts of Africa.”

“ISK [ISKP] has consistently demonstrated its ambition to evolve into a formidable regional entity … By directing its aggression towards nations such as Iran and Russia, ISK not only confronts regional heavyweights but also underscores its political relevance and operational reach on the global stage,” Jadoon said.

Kabir Taneja, a fellow at the Strategic Studies Programme of the Observer Research Foundation – a think tank based in New Delhi, India – told Al Jazeera that Russia is seen by ISIL and its affiliates as “a crusading power against Muslims”...

“The most compelling current motivation for ISIS-K to attack Russia is the Taliban factor. The Taliban is a bitter rival of ISIS, and ISIS views Russia as a friend of the Taliban,” said Kugelman...

More attacks are possible in Russia and elsewhere, he added, given the key role that ISIL recruits of Central Asian origin – particularly Tajiks – played when the group held territory in Syria. They have now returned to the Central Asia region and their intent to carry out attacks has now materialised in capability, Basit said...

It would arguably be more free and more British than it is now.

You're actually claiming that Britain would be "more free and more British" now if Churchill had surrendered to Hitler and Nazi rule in 1940 like the French, Low Countries, Denmark, and Norway?

Seriously?

And how many Jewish Brits would have then died in the ensuing Holocaust?

You would actually be OK with that?

>Fair enough. But would you be okay with the bloodletting stopping because Putin decided to withdraw to the pre-war borders?

The ones in the Minsk agreement? What happened to that?

Putin’s propagandist is more reliable than the 50 US intelligence officials who told us Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation.

Sod off Glowie.

Never thought you’d see the the day that there would be Freepers sounding like raving lunatics saying Isis is a U.S intelligence service creation.

Have you forgotten 0moeba already, Glowie?

Hiint: your execution of the Delphi technique sucks sh!t on ice.

I had one of his threads pulled yesterday, where it was claimed that Russia did the attack. JR actually pulled it. It seems his assignment on this attack is try to deflect-away the now-confirmed Ukrainian involvement.

It makes no sense strategically, across the board.

The incompetence of the execution is what shows this to be a Deep State false flag.

Isis fights everyone. They just did the same attack in Iran, which is Putin’s stooge.

The “west” to Isis is any predominantly Christian country. Or really, any non-Sunni Muslim country.

Then we should have allowed both into NATO and we would not have the problems going on now.

While I don’t disagree that the UK is devolving into a totalitarian state, the idea that a national socialist government in the UK would ever be more free is absolutely absurd.

But they were all secretly plotting to execute the Kallergi plan anyway /s

Hitler was the last great defender of the West and the White Race, don’t you know? /s

Why would ISIL attack Russia? Freepers: “OH, this must mean Russia is the GOOD guys.” Al Jazeera’s Answer: because Russia supports Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Fake news angle, anyway. Better question: why does Al Jazeera join the U.S. media narrative in lying about it being ISIS?

The real reason ISIS would attack Russia? Because Russia was the only effective supporter of the Syrian opposition to ISIS when Pres. Obama kept funding ISIS’s ally. The fact is conflict can be multi-faceted. Al Jazeera, Russia, ISIS and Al Qaeda are ALL our enemies. And they still can hate each other. Right now, Russia hates all of them, but hates Ukraine the most, while ISIS hates Russia the most.

Now, if you said, “so you ADMIT...” to anything I’ve written, you don’t get it. Biden and Putin and ISIS and Al Jazeera and Al Qaeda and Hamas can ALL be evil at the same time. Hell, Israel can even have a bad, counter-productive antipathy towards Christians at the same time, too. It’s not about justifying their evil actions. It’s about finding the least evil way we can respond.

And that’s tough, because ignoring conflict can even be evil, as we did in the Donbas from 1994 through 2020. Embargoes and trade sanctions are often worse than bombing cities. And in addition to destroying lives, hot warfare may not be practical.

Russia had a legitimate beef with the U.S.

Trying to destroy Ukraine was the least legitimate way possible for Russia to demand redress for their grievances.

Russia’s sole geopolitical focus is destroying America. They’re less like to seek a more effective, more responsive, more just democracy than they are to settle for a brutal tyranny or fanatically socialist government.

It was a mere 60-70 years ago that people like Revillo P Oliver were prominently represented on National Review.

Some people are so demoralized by the woke direction of the last 30-50 years they are giving in to the idea that their interests would be better served by an NS state.

Patton had them pegged:

“The difficulty in understanding the Russians we do not take cognizance of the fact he is not a European, but an asiatic therefore thinks deviously.
We can no more understand a Russian than Chinese or a Japanese.”

If we take Patton at his word, he also said that we fought the wrong enemy shortly before his death, he was strongly against integration in the US Army and he made disparaging remarks about death camp survivors that he met.

He was a brilliant general and a very complicated, if flawed, person.

Most of his commentary on social matters would be unprintable today.
