Supreme Court allows Texas to enforce new border law

A divided Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted a stay on a Texas law that gives police broad powers to arrest migrants suspected of crossing the border illegally, while a legal battle over immigration authority plays out.

The Biden administration is suing to strike down the measure, arguing it’s a clear violation of federal authority that would hurt international relations and create chaos in administering immigration law. Texas has argued it has a right to take action over what Gov. Greg Abbott has described as an “invasion” of migrants on the border.

Opponents have called the law, known as Senate Bill 4, the most dramatic attempt by a state to police immigration since an Arizona law more than a decade ago, portions of which were struck down by the Supreme Court. Critics have also said the Texas law could lead to civil rights violations and racial profiling.

A federal judge in Texas struck down the law in late February, but the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals quickly stayed that ruling, leading the federal government to appeal to the Supreme Court.

The majority did not write a detailed opinion in the case, as it typical in emergency appeals. But the decision to let the law go into effect drew dissents from liberal justices Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.

I think Keri Lake was going to do something like this if she was elected Gov.

“These three bimbos are the reason it took women a long time to be allowed to vote.”
—————-
Hell, they are a large part of the reason why a lot of men want to amend the constitution so that women can’t vote anymore. Yeah, i’m not even gonna put a flames suit on. I don’t care what anybody says, you can trace the decline of this country to the 19th amendment. I am fully aware that there are a lot of rational and logical women out there, including my mother, my wife and my daughter. But they and those like them are far outnumbered by millions of vapid, feelings-oriented, female voters who almost universally vote for the leftist candidates in lock step.

Conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett suggested her vote in favor of Texas stemmed from the technicalities of the appeals process rather than agreement with the state on the substance of the law.>>> What a loser fart bag she is.

“I wonder if this ruling allows state, county and municipal police to arrest someone for simply being in the country illegally. One would think that it does...and one would certainly *hope* that it does.”

They need to model their issue with/after this Supreme Court Texas Decision and have some good lawyers.

Allows? The constitution allows it. This whole messed up relationship between the states and their federal creature which they created needs to be sorted out.

Yes, Barrett has been a real disappointment. No more Republican picks of someone based on gender, ethnicity, race, religion, or ethnicity, PLEASE. The only qualification is being a 110% rock-ribbed constitutional conservative.

Re: 25 - ?

AJ Barrett took the opportunity to write about these administrative stays being used as a “shadow docket”. AJ Thomas has expressed concerns with the shadow docket; AJ Alito believes it’s not the large issue others think it is.

>Critics have also said the Texas law could lead to civil rights violations and racial profiling.<

I heard that it was at ports of entry only. Have papers or something??

We already have civil rights violations and racial profiling. Egged on by leftist antifie, and imported chaos..
Either way, something’s got to give. Biden/handlers would love a civil war
and around election time.

“”I heard that it was at ports of entry only.””

That’s the one place this law doesn’t apply, Port of Entry’s are Federal Property. Cross anywhere other than a Port of Entry in Texas and it’s criminal trespassing, a violation of state law.

Most women, it seems, only care about abortion. The rest is just words to them. And so they vote for Dems, who promise them the right to kill their children.

THIS is the 10th Amendment showdown we have been waiting for and America won BIGLY! 6-3
You won’t hear much about this because the Democrat/communists won’t want to admit they lost on the 10thA and our side will quietly go about crafting laws based on this final word on the 10A but there will be an endless stream of laws passed, with lighting speed, based on this decision and all will be good for America.
Sorry Surrender Monkeys but you lose again.

Yes, Barrett has been a real disappointment.

Why, on what issues have ACB votes been a "real disappointment"?
