CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago announced a first-of-its-kind lawsuit Tuesday against Glock, the manufacturer of some of the most popular handguns in the U.S., alleging Glock is facilitating the proliferation of illegal machine guns in the city, a news release from the mayor's office said.
"The lawsuit alleges that Glock unreasonably endangers Chicagoans by manufacturing and selling in the Chicago civilian market semiautomatic pistols that can easily be converted to illegal machine guns with an auto sear - a cheap, small device commonly known as a 'Glock switch,'" the release said.
The suit is the first to use Illinois' new Firearms Industry Responsibility Act, passed and signed into law in 2023 to hold gun companies accountable for conduct that endangers the public, the mayor's office said.
The suit was filed Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court, and reports law enforcement have recovered over 1,100 Glocks converted to machine guns in the last two years in connection with a variety of crimes.
"The lawsuit alleges that Glock knows it could fix the problem but refuses to do so, and the City is seeking a court order requiring Glock to cease sales of its easily converted pistols to Chicago civilians. The City also seeks penalties against Glock and damages for the harm that Glock has caused to the City," the release said.

Das why you gots to hold it sideways, mayne.
> Glock made machine guns? Who knew? <
That surprised me, too. I thought Glock only made bazookas and flamethrowers.
And now for my favorite Glock commercial (featuring the Gunny and a really hot girl). If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth the click.

Saving for later. Looks good for the first few seconds of it.
It’s a bloodbath!
"We're a sanctuary city. Your laws don't apply to us."
"I'm a sanctuary defendant. Your laws don't apply to me."
Gee, I dunno NorthMountain, I mean, you sure that’s high enough? What if they land on their heads and just sort of bounce around on the pavement? They need to be put through a paper shredder first. Yep, that’s the final solution. All in favor?
Just like Bido’s ‘vette.
No law abiding citizens.
Or at least dangled from overpasses.
Question. Can a citizen of Chicago sue the city because they do a poor job educating the youth which leads them to a life of crime? After all it is easy to fix but the City of Chicago refuses to fix!
Will they go after the entities from China that are manufacturing and importing the sears into this country through Mexico for installation on legal guns?
Will they stop that actual criminal activity, or is this process a pretext to get rid of American Gun Manufacturers?
Does the DOJ care? Will they simply ignore the importers due to their desire to destroy the Second Amendment?
I think so, if history is our guide.
Maybe a heavy suppressor would add weight and control muzzle climb
“...City is seeking a court order requiring Glock to cease sales of its easily converted pistols to Chicago civilians.”
Home builders could make homes more fire resistant or storm resistant.
Chiraq could make the city safer.....well,....ya know.

Because of the recent Trump mess in NY state and now this in Illinois I can see lot’s of companies leaving those states.
Your could get hit with whatever the cause of the day lawsuit was in vogue. You might win after many $$$$ spent in court but just cheaper to move to Texas or Florida.
Next: auto companies threatened for providing drivers with means to kill people with cars. DUI, drugged driving and texting while driving cited as uses of dangerous vehicles sold to the drivers.😜🤪
Knife company executives given heads up they are headed for court soon, too.
I did.
