AOC district neighborhood labeled 'Third World' as migrants clog streets and prostitutes overrun every block

An area in Squad member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s district is being described as looking more like a Third World country as opposed to a thriving American neighborhood, as desperate migrants block up sidewalks selling food and shilling clothing items while prostitutes openly solicit sex from passersby — reportedly including teens.

The neighborhoods of Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst — a once-vibrant community in northwestern Queens — has now essentially deteriorated into a large flea market with trash overflowing on street corners, leading to unsavory and unhygienic conditions, as video obtained by Fox News Digital shows.

Meanwhile, the neighborhood’s main strip along Roosevelt Avenue has become so renowned for its prostitution that locals have nicknamed the area "the market of sweethearts," and viral online videos advise prospective johns on how to make use of sex workers' services there.

In exclusive Fox News Digital photos, sex workers were seen on Wednesday standing outside storefronts soliciting men. Residents say the prostitutes usually take their clients into makeshift brothels for sex. These alleged sex workers operate during all hours of the day, even as families walk by with their children in strollers, and often hang out in front of area supermarkets. Prostitution is against the law in New York.

In video obtained by Fox News Digital, one local resident, Ramses Frías, takes a short walk along two streets in the neighborhood, shedding light on the conditions there.

they won’t touch this stuff outside on the sidewalk? HUH? Either it’s junk that has no value to their fences, or there’s something else going on here.

Could the "junk" on the sidewalks be what they looted the week before?

There's an illegal shelter in Chicago being overrun with measles. The local media has no idea how it happened, but more government money might solve the problem.

Good grief - you can't even transport a stray dog across state lines without proof of vaccination, but the illegals can go wherever they want and spend their Bidenbucks debit card anywhere they want.

I’m sure they’re not clueless when it comes to the hustle. They’re specialists about the take.

The elected a prostitute to the House of Representatives who has been pushing the Biden open borders agenda. What did they expect would happen?

You can fix ignorance, but you cannot fix stupidity.

Since the riots off Lake Street, Minneapolis will never recover.
I am still upset they burned down Uncle Hugo’s SciFi book store.
The place was the equivalent of the Library of Alexandria for SciFi.

What do her constituents think?

That's the problem. Her constituents DON'T think. They are low information, low IQ voters, and a good many of them probably vote illegally.

Elections have consequences. As Democrats keep voting for this I hope they will get used to this.

At one time Jackson Heights was a good middle class neighborhood. Most Everyone walked to shop on Roosevelt Ave., walked to the elevated subway. It was a safe place and a nice place to live.

Full disclosure: I am very familiar with the goings-on in the Long Island City area of NYC for years, having worked on one of the earliest rezoning projects in the area in the 1990s when I was fresh out of engineering school.

Instead of watching national cable TV news or browsing through Free Republic threads from that time, I would suggest going through the local media reports about the Amazon HQ2 saga in NYC to get a peek at the political maneuvering that was going on behind the scenes at the time -- and even for years before LIC became a hot neighborhood due to Amazon's interest.

You'll notice that AOC either isn't even mentioned or is just an afterthought in these reports ...

The Loyal Opposition to Amazon's Long Island City Deal

Amazon’s HQ2 Deal with New York, Explained

The Amazon controversy was part of a much bigger political dispute between local (New York City council) and district-level (New York State legislature) elected officials and the powers in city and state government who were looking to cut these deals behind the scenes without any concern for the local constituents who would be greatly affected by them. It's an issue that had been in and out of the news in Long Island City for years since the NYC government began the process of promoting the redevelopment of the faded industrial area. I dealt with this kind of controversy on almost every one of my projects in New York City during my career.

From Wikipedia: Joseph Crowley (born March 16, 1962) is a former American politician and consultant who served as U.S. Representative from New York's 14th congressional district from 1999 to 2019. He was defeated by Democratic primary challenger Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in what was viewed as one of the biggest upsets of the 2018 midterm elections.

Wikipedia can't even get its own facts straight. Crowley represented the 14th Congressional District from 2013 (after the 2012 election) to 2019 (after the 2018 election). He represented the 7th District from 1999 to 2013.

I can't find a pre-2000 historical map of the 7th District, but the layout of the district from 2003 to 2013 is shown below. And imagine that ... it looks very much like AOC's 14th District today.

this may have always been a shithole part of NYC.

Speaking from personal experience 40-50 years ago, it was not a shithole. It was a fairly safe area.
