Fulton County, Ga., Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee made his decision on whether District Attorney Fani Willis can continue prosecuting Donald Trump and 18 other co-defendants on corruption charges.
McAfee ruled that Willis can continue to prosecute the former president and his co-defendants, but he has given the state multiple options to handle the case. All options involve Nathan Wade stepping away from the team.
Willis campaigned as an anti-corruption candidate in 2020 because accusations of sexual and financial wrongdoing surrounded her predecessor, Paul Howard. She declared to an interviewer that the people of Fulton County “deserve a DA that won't have sex with his employees [and] won't put money in their own pocket.”
McAfee ordered a hearing into Willis’ conflicts of interest after reports surfaced in January that Willis was allegedly carrying on an affair with Nathan Wade, an attorney she hired as a special counsel on the case. Despite his lack of experience with RICO cases, Willis paid him more than more experienced attorneys for his work.
Willis also allegedly dispatched Wade to meet with Biden administration officials about the Trump prosecution.

I just add that this is if he is sentenced in a state court before the election. If he wins and takes office, that throws another wrinkle into this, and the courts would have to sort it out.
I actually kind of agree with the judge.
It’s not his job to clean up Willis’s office. That isn’t his role in the legal system.
Willis works for somebody. Now that the hearing is done, her position needs to be reassessed and will be. That doesn’t mean we are going to like the result, but a reassessment will happen.
Willis has a problem with the bar and the court system. She just isn’t believable. You can get disbarred for that. The Georgia bar will have to consider that. She will be underwater every time her office steps into a courtroom. I think she will have to resign at some point in order for her office to continue to prosecute cases.
Finally, there is a vast amount of foundation for all the delay and obfuscation the defense attorneys want to attempt. These cases aren’t going anywhere soon.
“This means that it’s a conversation between Garland and Mayorkas. Any guesses on how THAT conversation might go?”
Yeah, I can guess. It means our side is ‘rhymes with’ glued.
“If Trump were to be found guilty and sentenced to prison, the Secret Service could not legally prevent him from being taken into custody. At most, they would have input into how he is incarcerated to prevent danger to his life. That might mean a form of solitary confinement and having final say on the guards, etc. But they couldn’t refuse to allow him to be incarcerated.”
And that is pretty much what I figured and was afraid of. Hence, my paranoia.

I totally disagree... since, nobody ever said it ‘was’ his job to clean up Willis’s office. His job was to provide a just ruling based on concise and consistent facts of this case. He didn’t do that. Instead, his written “reasoning” was all over the map and massively inconsistent re: logic and adherence to legal standards. He caved. Thus proving that he is, IMHO, also corrupt and unworthy of his position, much less of being called “Your Honor”. I posit that McAfee can’t get next to the concept of honor.
It’s easy to be a Monday morning quarterback.
My thoughts exactly. Nothing here. Dimocrat liberal progressive socialist communist judge rules for their side, as ALL of those liberal judges do. No conservative stands a chance with these liberal judges. It is NOT that you are innocent until found guilty, rather you ARE guilty no matter how we decide and you go straight to jail or pay $9 Billion bucks to stay out on appeals, just as with these over massive $$$$ that have been slammed on Trump’s cases.
I agree, which shows how strong he truly is.
yes. No matter how anyone looks at Trump he is an extremely admiral person spiritually. I honestly don’t know how he does it and continue to do it.
