Property owners in Denver are being asked to rent their places out to migrants as the Colorado city shuts down four public-run shelters.
The Mile High City’s migrant services issued an email this week to property owners in the area seeking assistance in housing the city’s “newcomers” to get them out of shelters and into more stable housing.
“We put out a feeler to all the landlords we have connections with,” Jon Ewing from Denver Human Services told KDVR. “Basically said, listen, we’re going to have some newcomers who are going to need housing.”
The department’s email gauged the rental owners’ interest in opening their listings to the city’s migrants, but at a budget.
“We’ve got kind of a rent cap — $2,000,” Ewing added.

Newcomers? fortunate turn of a word here.
So, the government is going to pay these "rents"? Good luck getting paid dime one. Pass. Let them clean up their own mess.
They SAVED all that money by closing down the shelter, but now they will spend more paying their rent.
Liberals NEVER understand systems.
Wait until those landlords have to clean up the blood and guts of animals processed in the rental and clean the stench, feces and urine from the ‘guests’ not using the toilet nor bathing.
The chickens are coming home to roost and Colorado deserves it with your ‘let’s remove an unconvicted man from the Presidential race’ because of mean tweets.
You democrats did this - every single bit of it. And shut your mouths if you want to complain about it. I won’t cry when they kill you and rape your babies because this is what YOU want.
First you have to bake the cake and now you have to open your doors regardless of the costs/dangers.
Watch for something similar to "no one is being forced to take a Covid vaccine".
Just got into Denver - where’s my $2,000/month city-paid place?
All newcomers have to receive equal protection of the law, not just foreign invaders.
“asked”....then “forced”....

...and good luck ever getting them out.
I predict an increase of Squatters in all of the big cities.
Reaping what they sowed.
Schadenfreude ;-)

Y pienso de pollo, por favor.
At a minimum I would want a year’s rent in advance, a large damage deposit and they have to pay the utilities themselves - under no circumstances should the landlord include it in the rent.
When a liberal asks you to do something, it’s “asked”

Dear Newcomer:
As immigration is a federal matter, the City of Denver will not be able to assist you.
Mayor Griffin
My experience and the experience of some of my fellow landlords is, anyone who has any form of government assistance is going to trash the place. You’re lucky if that’s the only thing that happens. A friend had a renter sit in the Livingroom and shoot out the windows. (He missed several and hit the walls a foot away from the windows. Drugs were involved.)
Another problem is someone who has no visible means of support. When you finally get them out, you can expect to repair walls, doors, windows, appliances, etc.
Sometimes people lie about employment, even showing fake documents. (Because Photoshop.) Now I run a background check. I did take a former Marine with an arrest record. My God, he turned out to be awesome. I can call him up and he’ll come over and help me with whatever I need. So you have to make judgement calls sometimes. He’s getting married and my plan is to help him relocate onto a property he’ll own when we’re done.
