Former President Donald Trump unveiled a new nickname for Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) during a highly anticipated visit to the southern border, dubbing the California Democrat “NewScum.”
Trump, speaking from Eagle Pass, Texas, on Thursday, bragged about how the border under his administration was the “most secure” in history and bashed states such as California for giving incentives to illegal immigrants, specifically calling out Newsom.
“We had the most secure border, and people weren’t coming because they knew they wouldn’t get in. And we weren’t promising free education, free medical, free everything. I mean, all the promises that are made, no wonder they come,” Trump said.
“Look at what this governor, NewScum from California. Isn’t that his name, ‘NewScum’? What he’s done to California is unbelievable. People are pouring in, think they will get medical aid. And our soldiers, our [veterans], aren’t being taken care of, but people that come into our country illegally are,” he added.
Newsom and Trump have gotten along surprisingly well in recent years, but the new nickname from the former president shows a strain between the two. The California governor slammed Trump as embodying “weakness masquerading as strength” during his appearance on NBC News’s Meet the Press on Sunday.
In an interview on Fox News last year, Trump said he got along great with Newsom during his presidency.
“He was always very nice to me. He said the greatest things. He would say things like ‘Oh, he’s doing a great job,’” Trump said. “That’s why I could never hit him because he was so nice to me.”

Trump and Newsom worked together in 2020 when the Golden State was facing historic wildfires.
The two had previously shared a common enemy, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who had pitted himself as the opposite to Newsom, a blue state governor, and was a presidential primary opponent to Trump. Newsom had leaned into Trump’s criticisms of DeSantis to hurt the Florida governor, while Trump had also boosted Newsom’s jabs against DeSantis.
Maybe Trump follows me on FR. Only other thing I routinely post is SaveWomensSports. It is used by women’s sports supporters, plus it is Twitter user id, plus popular refrain.
I call him Newsolini but Newscum works too 😃
I call him “Noisome” because he stinks, but the term is not widely used and will never catch on.
And in other LOL news,
After nearly 4 years, several Biden-Harris campaign staffers are taking Trump supporters to civil court after they allegedly drove next to their campaign bus.
How?
They’re using the KKK Act.
He was absolutely Newsolini during the scamdemic.
And Gretchen was most definitely Whitler.
ok don, im stealing that.
newscum
( same as the old scum , looking at you nancy )
Geez I have been calling newscum newscum for a while now.
I call Gavin a primping, worthless hypocrite who has destroyed my home state. It’s far more accurate than some one-word school-boy insult.
good on ya mate.
its a keeper for sure.
Newsom is a walking disgrace (and was nicely taken apart in a debate by one Governor DeSantis.)
That said, Mister Trump, if he actually wants to win the general election, should at least try to act presidential and skip the schoolyard names. A wise person can characterize an opponent with clever use of language and is above childishness in the public forum.
Those of us who live here have been calling him NEWSCUM since before he even got elected the first time.
We all called him NEWSCUM or BRILLCREEM BOY from when he was mayor of Frisco. (but instead of a “little dab” he used the whole damn can)
He turned that city into a pile of human shit, just like the rest of my state now.
What’s that “Rules for Radicals” thing take their language and use it against them.
Personalize, isolate them, subject them to ridicule.
Why shouldn’t PRESIDENT TRUMP use their own tools against them, especially if those rules seem to work?
Plus the fact that the average American has an IQ of about 95-100, if that’s something the brainless population can understand, then I say use it!
