Ghana’s parliament on Wednesday approved a bill that will see people jailed simply for ‘identifying’ as LGBTQ+ or campaigning for queer rights.
Being gay has been illegal in the West African nation since the 19th century in a law originating from colonial times.
But lawmakers introduced the bill in 2021 to toughen the anti-LGBTQ+ laws already in the books.
The legislation, known as the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghananian Family Values Bill 2021, is among the harshest anti-LGBTQ+ measures on the African continent, according to Amnesty International.
If signed into law by President Nana Akufo-Addo, being LGBTQ+ would be criminalised and carry a three-year jail sentence.
So-called ‘promoters’ of LGBTQ+ ‘propaganda’ – from activists and donors to journalists – could be sentenced to five years.
Those found to have engaged in same-sex relations – a first-degree felony – will be thrown behind bars for five years. Cross-dressing will also be outlawed.

I do not see a problem with the bill.
Good
Looks like Ghana is about to get a little taste of “democracy”.
Looks like MSN misspelled common sense law.
Color revolution incoming!
May God bless them and provide a way for more of them to turn to the Bible. God will bless their nation if they do.

donors to journalists
I identify as Ghanan.
There are a lot of good people in Ghana.
Ghanaian Law Threatens Human Rights, State Dept. Warns Department of State
The United States is deeply troubled by the Ghanaian Parliament's passage of legislation, officially called the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, which would threaten all Ghanaians' constitutionally protected freedoms of speech, press, and assembly.

Fortunately for countries like Ghana, Globohomo is now so weak that it isn’t able to force them to reverse.
The military and industrial decline of the West helps those who wish to stand up against Globohomo.

LGBTQ rights are now viewed as anti-African
So when Western leaders like Vice President Kamala Harris in 2023 or, before her, then President Barack Obama in 2015, lecture African nations about their stances on LGBTQ rights, it is often paraded as an example of neocolonialism — the West trying to impose their culture on Africa.
“We want the West to know that there is no way we are going to accept LGBTQIA+. We support all African countries, including Uganda, who are enacting laws against these activities,” said Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, a traditional ruler in Ghana and also a High Court judge whose opinion holds massive political sway, back in April.

Very good.
My only concern would be a needed exemption for spoof and comedy. Would they ban reruns of Milton Beryl, or Dame Edna?
Otherwise, no issue with this.
Nor do l.
God bless Ghana!
They probably grew weary of aids and fagpox
And the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth is heard far and wide.
And yet, when muslims toss homosexuals off tops of tall buildings,...... crickets......

If westerners went over there to help them modernize their country and build functional infrastructure, we would be “imposing” on their culture.
