The National Rifle Association and its former longtime leader were found liable Friday in a lawsuit centered on the organization’s lavish spending.
The New York jury found that Wayne LaPierre, who was the NRA’s CEO for three decades, misspent millions of dollars of the group’s money on pricey perks for themselves.
LaPierre, 74, sat stone-faced in the front row of the courtroom as the verdict was read aloud.
The verdict is a win for New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat who campaigned on investigating the NRA’s not-for-profit status. It is the latest blow to the powerful group, which in recent years has been beset by financial troubles and dwindling membership. LaPierre, its longtime face, announced his resignation on the eve of the trial.
Jurors ordered LaPierre to pay $4,351,231 in restitution. NRA general counsel John Frazer and retired finance chief Wilson Phillips were also defendants in the case.
Any penalties paid by LaPierre or others would go back to the NRA, which was portrayed in the case both as a defendant that lacked internal controls to prevent misspending and as a victim of that same misconduct.

Get it together, NRA!
LOOK New York Attorney General Letitia James, I found another target that does the same, Clinton Foundation! Go get them girl!
Karma is going to get this stupid B!tch.
I didn't follow the case. So why do I doubt the finding?
NRA:
Get out of NY
LaPierre has done some good work in the past. But this is example number one million of why term limits are a good idea - in both the public and private sectors.
Because it's New Jerk state.
Do BLM next. I will hold my breath.
The shortsighted, zealous, cabal has given a huge gift to the rank and file of the NRA. Wayne and the board are the rot that could never be dislodged. The rank and file has the opportunity to claim victimhood and throw them under the bus. With a “New and Improved” leadership, the NRA can remove the RINO taint and jump out to a fresh start, free of the baggage and free of the drag on NRA activism. The only question is who will make up the “New and Improved” leadership.
Letitia the lardass Ghettopotamus can now notch two white boyz on her pistol. LaPierre and Trump. She’s the Pride of the Wakandas and the real Darkly Colored Pantherette. Afrika must be so proud. She’s a credit to her race card. New Yawk will have to retire her bra when she retires to start counting her money she used the law to steal.
When are these Wizards of the “LAW” going to go after politicians for their “lavish spending” and “wasting of taxpayer dollars”.
LaPierre has done some good work in the past. But this is example number one million of why term limits are a good idea - in both the public and private sectors.
And, an example of why NOT to have a NY based organization...especially for the NRA or anything firearm related.
The crazy leftists have been *gunning* for the NRA, for a long time. Don’t give them cause to come after and choose a conservative state to have a rifle association, these days.
There’s been no incentive to rebuild and retool that organization up until now. It’s been drifting along as a husk of what it once was. They need a Trump-like person to come along to organize and whip that place into shape and up the activist aggression where it should be. Needed now more than ever.
Yep.
Sounds like the RNC.
Nobody in their right mind who has a family, friends and associates unless they are looking for a reason to declare bankruptcy. The NRA has always been a favorite target of the extreme Far-Left Bill of Rights freedom haters.
The courts are the liberal progressive goto place to destroy the right.
“NRA:
Get out of NY”
They should have done that a long time ago.
I thought the governor assured everyone that New York’s lawfare was just for Trump!
Yes, agree.
I feel similarly about the RNC.
