Judge rejects delay on Trump civil fraud fines

Judge Arthur Engoron has rejected a bid from former President Donald Trump's legal team to delay payment of the roughly $355 million in fines and $100 million in interest stemming from New York Democratic Attorney General Letitia James's civil fraud case.

"You have failed to explain, much less justify, any basis for a stay... I am confident that the Appellate Division will protect your appellate rights," Engoron wrote to Trump attorney Clifford Robert in an email CBS obtained.

Trump on Wednesday asked Engoron for a 30-day extension to pay the sum, asserting that "[g]iven that the court-appointed monitor continues to be in place, there is no prejudice to the Attorney General in briefly staying enforcement to allow for an orderly post-Judgment process, particularly given the magnitude of Judgment."

“They are counting on Trump never bring in power again.. They are counting on being high on the totum poke and never being held accountable for any of this.”

The left’s expressed confidence (just look at the news articles) is at the level it was prior to November 2016, although they are aware that Biden does not have the approval of the majority of the voters. They learned their lesson for the elections following 2016. They had to cheat in front of all of us, and with the cooperation of the media, to steal the 2020 election.

However, I think they may just discount the effect the economy has had on their formerly loyal voters and precincts that the left usually do not worry about (in Chicago for instance) which may come in for Trump in early returns. Therefore, the cheating in November is going to have to be off the charts to win this time.

If the polls keep moving more and more in Trump’s favor, then I think we will have a “major” event before then.

She did caveat with law abiding and rule following businesses.

"Law abiding" as interpreted by a NY judge.

At the end of the day any disagreement is going to be determined by a judge. If in NY, it will be a NY judge.

If Engoron was kicked off the case, is there any guarantee that the NY judge who replaced him would be any better?

No.

You will never find a more wretched hive of prosecutorial scum and judicial villainy than New Jerk City, the District Court of the Eastern District of New Jerk and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

No surprise, the judge denied the motion. He doesn't even hide his bias.

Also, the judges response, shows his lefty spitefulness. He said, "I am sure the appelate court, will uphold your appelate rights", So, the judge denies the stay on the payment, knowing full well, that, before Trump can go to the appelate court, to try to regain his rights, he lost in this court, he has to put up the original fine amount, on a short timeline.

Trump needs to set up a fund to help cover the costs of the appeal bond or a cash bond. If he wins the amount raised should be donated to charity.

1. Nobody would have cared in 2007-09 if it only involved commercial lending with no FDIC protection for the lenders. And it's very telling that nobody was prosecuted under New York State law for any of the potentially tens of thousands (if not more) transactions involving banks, borrowers and investment banks in the CMO business in New York back in those days.

2. The facts of this case demonstrate the absurdity of having the government override or ignore the sound business practices of commercial lenders. The bank dude on the witness stand described how his bank cut Trump's personal net worth estimate in half after they reviewed all the documentation, and Trump still had something like ten times more than the minimum net worth he would have needed to qualify for the loan in question.

3. This is going to have impacts far beyond banking and real estate. Hell -- I myself was involved in two different ends of a commercial transaction in New York over the course of a decade in the early 2000s (buying and selling a business) ... and I probably could have been subject to civil complaints identical to the Trump case for BOTH transactions under this stupid law -- even though nobody involved in any part of either transaction would believe you if you told them the transactions were "fraudulent" by any measure.

Keep in mind that the lawyers “not doing a great job” have a dual purpose, to protect their client and to make their client appear in the best possible light. PDJT will, and should, play this travesty out so people can see the unconstitutional way he is being treated and garner as much support as he can.

What is to stop President Trump from having all of them Criminally Prosecuted for Deprivation of Rights under the Color of Law, after he re-elected??

I think that would be the perfect conclusion to this.
