Former President Donald Trump has confirmed that six Republicans are on his shortlist for a potential running mate and vice president at a town hall on Monday.
In his first hint at who could be his Vice President if he wins the election in November, Trump's list included two former opponents and an ex-Democrat.
Trump, 77, confirmed Florida Governor and one-time foil Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina are all among the ex-rivals being considered.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Florida Republican Byron Donalds, and former Democrat Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard are on his shortlist.
A DailyMail.com poll in New Hampshire found Ramasmway is the top choice to be running mate, followed by Scott in second and Tucker Carlson and Ben Carson in joint third.
'All of those people are good. They're all solid,' Trump told Laura Ingraham Monday night.
Trump said, however, that deciding on a running mate might not be the biggest decision of his campaign.
'The one thing that always surprises me is that the VP choice always has no impact,' he said.
Trump noted that 2008 Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin did have an enormous impact, but faced attacks unlike anyone ever had before.
He then attempted to make his case for what qualities he felt his running mate should bring to the ticket.
'It's a very important position. You would like to get somebody who could help you from the voters' standpoint,' Trump said - but noted he wanted someone with 'common sense.'
DeSantis became a target of Trump's notorious mockery during the primary, though the Florida governor dropped out and endorsed him.
Gabbard, who served several terms in the House of Representatives and ran for president in 2020 as a Democrat, has since left the party ..

Daily mail is bullshit.
I’m a diehard TRUMPER and I think DeSantis would be best. Tulsi would be by far the worst and I can’t quite bring myself to trust the smooth sweet-talking Vivek.
DeSantis and Donalds are from Florida and wont be picked
Kari Lake is my bet.
I’ll take either of the girls....Kristi first.
They are on his list, but it doesn’t mean that they are the only candidates.
I think his priority this time round is to find somebody who might be able to unite the Republican party, whose name is not Pence.
Kevin Roberts of the Heritage Foundation would be a home run pick.
Pende’s name is Mudd.
The current betting odds are currently otb=as they take them down overnight-
last I looked at it the order was:
Noem
Stefanik
Vivek
Scott
Haley
Personally, I don't see him picking Gov Desantis this go around.
What about Elise Stefanek?
Tim Scott would be controlled by Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell if he ever became President.
DJT knows this. No way it’s Scott.
Ron brings definite governing credibility. It would be zero gimmick and all heft if he picks Ron.
[Tulsi Gabbard]
Please....NO
You’re exactly right.
At her town hall, Laura Ingraham rattled off those names. Trump isn’t impolitic enough to throw anyone who’s now supporting him under the bus, so he’s basically like, “Sure, any of them would be great.”
Ingraham’s list doesn’t mean anything.
He didn’t govern his campaign very well.
Besides his completely ignnring the Floridian J6ers rotting away in the gulag. He can’t fill a ballroom in FLA anymore.
His mention is classic Trump trolling.
I always thought the best pick would be the most capable of helping you get elected and who would make the best president for America after you are gone for what ever reason.
Exactly.
