Foreign aid is sh*t. The old show a man to fish thing. This is why the azhos are coming here in droves. They don’t want to get up off their worthless asses and fix their own country. The came here for the FREE Version of the American Dream but they sure as hell don’t want to work for it.
Judge Engoron takes dim view of overvaluing collateral.
Not enough collateral. No loan.
Ding ! Ding ! Ding ! We have our man !
Good article! Thanks.
Even worse, we spent $3 trillion on the Iraq war and didn’t take their fossil fuels. Now China is moving in and grabbing them basically for free
That’s what the ChiComs do! Then when the Blacks can’t pay it back (which they never can), they take control of their ports.
Good idea. And put a cap on the loan, perhaps based on the size of the borrower’s economy.
If they don’t repay it, rip up any US notes that they hold.
We shouldn’t be sending aid (gifts) to any other country until we wipe out our own debt.
(”Put on your own oxygen mask before helping others.”)
The only way this makes sense is if we are willing to foreclose on the collateral when they default. The US would own all middle eastern oil reserves and most European real estate. That would suit me just fine.
Most of that money goes to the pockets of the thugs that run those s**t holes.
I say great. Sadly, we know who is sitting out there just
waiting to pick up these nations in it’s circle of influence.
We’ll see how this works out.
It’s always been that way.
Can someone tell me where in the Constitution is the Legislature or the Executive empowered to take money from the Treasury and either grant or loan it to a foreign nation?
Asking for a friend.
Foreign aid is just away for politicians to loot the US Treasury and funnel it back to the DNC.
You are mistaken. The assumption that that no country would ever repay their loan is a false one. It all depends on the country, the situation and who negotiated the terms. There’s a long list of things that conventional wisdom said could never be done, that Trump was able to achieve for example, getting countries to take back their illegals, getting China to sign a trade agreement with enforcement mechanisms, renegotiating NAFTA and other trade agreements that were long overdue. We have enormous leverage if we have a president who’s willing to use it.
The nitpickers are seizing on the wording of Trump’s Truth, anxiously looking for things to criticize while ignoring the fact that Trump was broaching a new topic of discussion in the broadest of terms. Trump understands that the repayment terms would necessarily have to be different for different situations.
When lending money to Taiwan or Israel, to help them through a rough patch during wartime, it’s reasonable to expect repayment after their countries return to normal. Lending money to a less wealthy ally who’s helping us to fight a common enemy, for example, Kurdish forces during the Iraq war, might require more forgiving terms. To criticize the idea because Trump hasn’t outlined every detail is foolish. Trump is discussing a policy in its broadest terms, a policy that would necessarily require situational flexibility, to be implemented successfully.
foreign aid is a laundering scam where both sides, the politicians in country and our leaders handing it out get a cut
I agree.
Should be a QUID PRO QUO! Something for Something!!
The mutuality of NATO Alliance has quietly morphed over the decades into the singularity of the NATO Reliance with US’ wealthy EU partners relying on the US to do all the heavy lifting, militarily, monetarily, providing advanced intelligence and weaponry for their land war threats while they are useless to us in defense of our homeland which will come in the way of a high tech air and missile attack, not a land war. As such, either it needs to be rewritten with member states required to form a joint standing military to defend Europe by a date certain and immediately required to up their country’s defense spending to 2% of GDP. Barring that, we should leave the Reliance. We don’t need to be paying child support for someone else’s baby while we are trying to raise our own.
I like it - and those that default don’t get any more money
The loans would never be paid back. Stop foreign aid. Period.
