White House says ICE will reduce deportations, detention capacity if Republicans don't pass border bill

The White House on Thursday announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will soon be "forced" to reduce operations at the southern border due to lack of funds.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that because Republicans have not passed the bipartisan border security agreement with funding for Israel and Ukraine, the administration is left with no choice but to pull back from the border.

"Because congressional Republicans are choosing partisan politics over our national security and refusing to pass the bipartisan national security agreement that includes significant border reforms and funding, over the coming weeks, ICE will be forced to reduce operations because of budget shortfalls," Jean-Pierre said during a gaggle on Air Force One.

"We have asked Congress for additional funding and resources, and every time Congress has provided less than we asked for, or most recently, completely ignored our supplemental request," she said.

My government doesn’t abuse me, I just keep falling down the stairs.

And besides, if my government did abuse me, it was my own fault.

It’s time to stop trying to pander to this administration to get them to do their job. Stop all money to foreign countries (yes, Ukraine too.) and vote for Trump in November. They’re literally at the point now where they’ll cut off their nose to spite their face.

Indeed. The letters should also note that future prosecutions will not consider leniency for advanced age OR mental incapacity when recommending prison sentences.

Is there a number less than zero?

There is. Deportations have spiked to -10,000 per day.

Please don’t pass this bill.
Calling it “bipartisan” is a huge pile of gaslight.

Sounds like a promise, not a threat.

Extortion.

I heard on the radio today that the Biden administration has been breaking records for the amounts of illegals entering the country. More than Obama and Trump. So what he is saying is that the border situation is out of control and has been for well over a year and he didn’t support it with federal troops as this is a legitmate invasion because of money? They can find time and money to get border patrol to cut wire and move baracades that states put up. But they can’t do their jobs. Hmmmmm...

When the saboteurs and soldiers sneaking in as illegals strike, can we hang those responsible for rolling out the red carpet to our enemies?

Their budget problem is self-inflicted. They would save a substantial amount of taxpayer money sending people back across the border, compared to keeping them here and subsidizing them. Building a gated and guarded border wall would save substantially more.

I will be happy to pay a State tax (I’m in Texas) if border operations need it.

I’d rather pay a State tax to keep illegal intruders out than a federal tax to let them in and support them (and any other border but our own spit!)

"Will ICE agents invade Mexico to kidnap people who didn’t want to come to the US?"

Don't be giving them any ideas!

Maybe they could use the money they give the illegal aliens for cell phones, prepaid debit cards, transportation, healthcare, and legal representation. Just an idea.

Don’t forget Schumer said our kids would have to fight Russia in Eastern Europe if we don’t pass the bill.

Yes, they will send your kids off to die for a country that isn’t even an official ally if we don’t give them what they want.

“Nice business you have there. Wouldn’t it be a shame if something happened to it? Pay us and we will keep it safe.”

can we hang those responsible for rolling out the red carpet to our enemies?

Legally? That would require a prosecutor, plus a fair judge (a bunch of them up to SCOTUS). So the correct answer is: No.
