ABC’s Modern Family actor Ed O’Neill says he plans to give back his honorary doctorate degree to Youngstown State University in protest of the school hiring former Republican congressman Bill Johnson as its new president.
“I was so disappointed when I heard about this decision,” O’Neill told MSNBC. “He’s a polarizing guy, an election denier. He’s not the biggest fan of the gay community. He’s anti-choice. He’s just a polarizing, far right-wing fanatical guy.”
O’Neill, who is from Youngstown, Ohio, also criticized Johnson for supporting former President Donald Trump after the 45th president was indicted, saying, “It’s crazy.”

I just recently went back and watched Tim Allen’s stand-up specials. I hadn’t laughed so hard in a long time. But it also pointed out just how much our culture has changed since then, and not for the better.

I’ve heard O’Neill spout off about his “Progressive” politics several times on social media. He once attacked some other organization that honored him because they invited Trump to speak. He’s a down the line Dem Party apparatchik - disassociate with any organization that remotely affiliates with a GOP officeholder.
Most actors and musicians are libs, it’s their universe. It’s like college professors.
To get along, you go along.
I never watched his show.
But from what I have read, the actor who played Ted Baxter was a fine person and a veteran.
O’Neill is a delisional fool if he thinks anyone cares.
