The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is reportedly preparing a new rule to regulate private gun sales, requiring background checks via the FBI.
Empower Oversight, representing IRS agents in the Hunter Biden case, has raised concerns about the move, calling it an “unconstitutional” power grab.
The group argues that only Congress has the authority to enact such changes due to a 1986 law prohibiting background checks for private firearm sales.
“Such an expansive rule that treats all private citizens the same as federal firearms licensees would circumvent the separation of powers in the Constitution, which grants ‘all legislative Powers’ to Congress while requiring that the President ‘take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed,’” Empower Oversight’s letter read. They also highlighted potential confrontations between ATF agents and private citizens, citing past incidents.
“To the extent such a rule prevents the private sale of firearms, it would also clearly violate the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, which declares that ‘the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed,’” the letter added.

Yep raise your hand if you would even think about complying. This is just a bunch of bluster. The ATF doesn’t have the authority to do this anyway. It would have to be an act of Congress.
“Rule”…is it a rule if it’s illegal? Just because they want to do something does not mean it has to be adhered to….every gun law is illegal unless the Constitution is ratified as per the constitution.
..and after that agreed to by 3/4 of the states.

But what you really need is training to develop both skills and most importantly, the mindset to use your weapons as you will most inevitably have to. If you aren’t willing to use your weapons against a threat, you might as well not have them.
they don’t want this law to go around door to door seeking anyone who sold a gun ‘without gov approval’- they want it so that IF a person gets arrested, and discloses that he bought the gun from someone, the cops can then go to that person’s home, arrest the person and turn him into a felon who can never own a gun again- I predict the left will call for people to call a ‘hotline’ if they suspect someone sold a gun without FBI check- just another tool for the gov to turn peaceful citizens into felons (While at the same time ignoring the vile acts of actual hardened felons who commit crime after crime)

They, along with the other fed agencies, are totally out of control. They truly believe they can make law. The leadership needs to be in prison and the Senior Executive Service needs to be abolished.
