House Speaker Mike Johnson will introduce a bill to send $17.6 billion to Israel in emergency aid without corresponding spending cuts amid a fight over border security.
The first standalone Israel aid package voted on included IRS cuts, which of course received heavy backlash by Democrats and was rejected by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
The new Israel funding bill will exclude the IRS cuts.
"While the Senate appears poised to finally release text of their supplemental package after months of behind closed doors negotiations, their leadership is aware that by failing to include the House in their negotiations, they have eliminated the ability for swift consideration of any legislation,” speaker Johnson wrote in a letter to colleagues.
"Given the Senate’s failure to move appropriate legislation in a timely fashion, and the perilous circumstances currently facing Israel, the House will continue to lead. Next week, we will take up and pass a clean, standalone Israel supplemental package.”

Those neighboring countries are paying big time with refugees at every turn.
Ukraine doesn't just want war money...they want our money to pay Ukraine's everyday bills....pensions etc..
True, as Ukraine's economy is harmed greatly, but, the Euro's are paying a LOT more of the latter. Overall, the Euros were at ~$133 billion total aid to Ukraine last Dec., and they just added another $50 billion. Many FReepers don't like to admit it, or find the true numbers, but Europe has far outspent us on Ukraine, and is even now slightly ahead on weapons, although the US still has by far the greatest capacity to supply weapons.
Israel's economy is in pretty rough shape too, just not as "shot up".
Agree, NO DEAL without IRS
Better idea take un funds to pay for the deal.
“The globalists keep putting Israel and Ukraine aid together. This is a clever move.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Any US aid coming to a non-American country is a globalist move. Israel or Ukraine they are both part of the globe.
Most of our American industry heavily relies on non-American semi-conducters (just one of many examples).
Thus, since FR members here support American industries, we are all de facto globalists. Whether we like it or not. Most American industry would vanish without foreign “ingredients”.
If anyone of us here use a mobile phone - we are a globalist. Because that phone is filled up with non-Amercian components.
Same goes for our US made cars... : filled with non-American components...
Thus... those who say they are non-globalists are simply hypocrites, they take full part of the globalist “system” - knowingly or unknowingly. Unless they decide to live in a cave, and without electivity.
By the way... anyone posting on FR is de facto a globalist because FR just like any other website is on the WWW (WORLD WIDE WEB). Right?
“WORLD WIDE WEB” is the most “globalistic” invetion ever conceived by mankind. And we are ALL in it.
You have now been awakened!
However, good for some to have romantic feelings about being non-globalist though. Nice dream, I admit.
In America only the Hamish are non-globalists.
I bet it fails in the Senate or with he veto pen.
Yes, the refugees cost is only partially accounted for in the “support” figures. Then there are considerable private efforts, also.
I like it — a nice FOAD message to the Jew haters.
Whatever is bad will be enacted; whatever is good will be soundly repudiated by the American people and their Congress.
An idea to be sure but some will argue that 34 trillion dollars of debt later we have no money to give.
And our foriegn policy is a twisted up mess because of it
(That was over a long period of time - mostly used up now.)
Used up how? On who?
Genesis 12:3
King James Version
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
That is money already spent.
The IRS funding was taken up in another bill...and we reduced the original funding by $20 billion.
The Speaker has pulled a boner.
Yes. I think he’s a greater strategist than people have yet realized. This is an election year and that has to be a factor in his thinking. I just worry he has a very slim majority and the Senate is trying to push its own immigration bill. They are not even considering HR2 in the Senate. They have their own “compromise”. But I don’t know why some GOP are trying to save the Democrats. .
So what if the media keeps saying the GOP won’t give Biden “the tools”. No American believes that BS. Biden did this all by executive action. The GOP should let the Democrats own it. I’m not even sure HR2 would do anything. Johnson may have passed it as a stunt knowing the Senatr won’t pass it. Even if they had $1 trillion dollars to spend on the border, at the end of the day, it’s up to Biden on whether to actually use it. This is not about money this is about the discretionary powers of the Executive to allocate resources, lift the remain in Mexico policy, to grant everyone who asks an asylum hearing and a trial date a decade from now. Those kinds of issues. That won’t change unless policy changes in the WH. It’s not a money problem but Johnson at least sees the political advantage of the appearance of trying. And the Democrats are kind of falling for it - just by saying “the gop won’t give us the resources” to which is answered “we tried to give Biden the money to enforce and deport etc but the Democrats refused to accept it”.
HR2 is a very comprehensive bill and attacks the border problem on all fronts. It was not a stunt. I’ve read it...and it’s a huge bill
That’s nice, but finish saving America first!
